Shivers is the Only David Cronenberg Film that Made me Extremely Uncomfortable

Image
Credit to A Look Back at David Cronenberg's Debut Shivers, 45 Years Later | Features | Roger Ebert Shivers was my second David Cronenberg film, and it was an experience that haunted me for a long time. I can't believe I was able to even finish the movie, due to how extreme the film continued to become until that disturbing ending.  It's a possession story, but a different kind that is absolutely haunting.  We follow multiple people living in an apartment complex, that becomes the main target for a parasite to take over. The parasite was created by a company, and their idea was to create a living organism that can 'take over the function of a human organ.' A random dude stumbles upon their bodies, not knowing that he is already carrying the parasite within his body. He goes back to the apartment complex, where he ends up spreading the infection. The parasite is passed on through the mouth, some kind of disgusting monster that is transferred through erotic and viole...

Michael Corleone is a Tragic Villain

Image
Credit to  Why We Return to 'The Godfather' And What Michael Corleone Means to American Men Michael's character really stayed with me after watching The Godfather. I wasn't expecting the film to focus on his character, and it was a huge surprise to see this innocent man who desperately wanted to escape from his family, become a monster. He is forced to return to the family when he learns of his father's attack from the other mob families, and he puts himself on the line, willing to do whatever it takes to protect his family.  Michael is portrayed as a cold and evil man, slowly changing into a man who looks 'dead inside.' His humanity completely leaves him, and only a husk of what he used to be is left behind. Protecting his own family destroyed him, and it's such a tragic downfall to watch.  I know that this film isn't exactly a horror film, but Michael's villain arc is what really made this film stand out to me. Watching him dispose of his ene...

My Prediction of Who Will Die in the Final Season of Stranger Things

Image
Credit to Stranger Things five, volume one review: The final series is 'thrilling' so far After watching the first part of the final season to Stranger Things, I think a lot of people are going to die. We kept getting teases of the main cast almost getting killed, but something tells me that there won't be any more of these close calls in the next two parts.  The chances of surviving are ten times lower than before, because Vecna is now back, with a whole damn army at his side.  This show continues to thrill and excite me, and now I'm prepared for some moments where I'm probably going to bawl my eyes out.  7. Robin Credit to Stranger Things Season 5 Will Be 'Basically, Eight Movies,' Says Maya Hawke - IGN As much as I love Robin's character to death, I think it makes sense for her character to die in the final season. She has been a huge help for the group so far, and they have been really focusing on her character a lot in the final season. She is a l...

Stranger Things Vol. 1 Ended with a Fantastic Twist

Image
Credit to Stranger Things: Will and Vecna Come FACE TO FACE in Season 5 Trailer The final season to Stranger Things is off to a promising start. The stakes are even higher this time around, and the characters are more than determined to take down Vecna once and for all. The Upside Down is even more of a threat now, with the military refusing to give up on their search for Eleven, knowing that monsters reside within this world.  Vecna is now kidnapping children, building up his own army, giving them their own powers. I believe that he is going to use these children to defeat Eleven, and two shocking allies that are now going to be added to her group.  Eleven had teamed up with Hopper to break into the military lab in the Upside Down, and instead of finding Vecna waiting for them, they found an old friend of Eleven’s that was introduced in season 2, who possesses the same powers that she does. Then we get another shocking ally, a great twist that has been building up for ...

I'm Hoping for a Lot of Deaths in the Final Season of Stranger Things

Image
Credit to  'Stranger Things' Season 5 review: New dangers and familiar plotlines : NPR I've already watched the first episode of the final season for Stranger Things, and so far, it's pretty promising. We are starting off really strong, and as crazy as this sounds, I'm hoping for a lot of deaths for the final season. In my opinion, if a TV show is known for killing off their characters, the writers should go all out and kill off a lot of characters for the final season.  I have noticed past TV shows like Game of Thrones, or The Walking Dead, that chose to not kill that many people in their final seasons. I'm not sure why the writers suddenly choose to take it easy for the final seasons, but I'm kind of getting tired of seeing the 'plot armor trope.' If the final season is reached, I think no mercy should be known to any character. It's free game at this point, and no one is safe.  We have gotten some brutal unexpected violence in the first epis...

Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark Features a Terrifying Ending for the Villains

Image
Credit to https://popculturereferences.com/the-indiana-jones-has-no-impact-on-the-plot-of-raiders-of-the-lost-ark-theory-is-dumb/ I have seen the original trilogy to the Indiana Jones franchise, and while I think all three are great in their own way, I think the first film has the darkest scene in the entire franchise. In the first entry, Indiana Jones takes on Nazi's, determined to retrieve the Lost Ark, that allegedly contains the ancient power of God, and whoever opens it, will pay the price. The Nazi's don't take the warning seriously, and through sheer will and determination, they get their wish during the third act of the film. They capture Indiana Jones and his love interest, Marion, and tie them both up to a pole. The Nazi's open the ark, and are met with one of the most brutal ways to die in a movie. Indiana immediately tells Marion to close her eyes, while everyone else around them is screaming in pure terror. The ark reveals a bunch of ancient spirits, who ...

The Thing with Feathers is Benedict Cumberbatch's First Horror Movie

Image
Credit to Landscape.mp4_00668aa2-c094–459f-a31c-b6176347da86_1730250177873 I have been a huge fan of Benedict Cumberbatch’s work for years. I have watched so much of his movies and TV shows, his acting is freaking phenomenal. My personal favorite would have to be his depiction of a modern Sherlock Holmes, and he was the perfect actor for this specific role. How he was able to play a character struggling to be a human was amazing.  And now, he is about to start in his first horror movie.  The Thing with Feathers is about a grieving father, who is struggling to raise his two sons after the death of his wife. We see him begin to spiral into madness, as he becomes haunted by an unknown entity, a crow monster that is the size of a human, that intends to ruin his life.  The movie has been compared to The Babadook online, but we are now following from the perspective of a father this time around. Even though I have been hearing some mixed reviews from the movie, I’m still...
