5 Best Horror TV Shows with Serial Killers

I have watched a lot of horror shows with a great cast of characters that really know how to play terrifying serial killers. The gore is always brutal in each of these shows, these fictional serial killers are scary as hell, and they never show mercy to anyone.

Well, maybe a couple on this list do, but that still doesn't excuse their killer instincts.

I'm only going to be going over TV shows I have seen with the serial killer concept, so please ignore that picture of Dexter lol.

I actually haven't seen that show yet, but I'll be sure to sometime in the future!

Here are 5 horror TV shows with serial killers!

5. Slasher Ripper

The Slasher series is known for creating different stories through the same cast, (sort of like American Horror Story and Mike Flanagan horror works), and each story always features the same formula. There is a serial killer who is hunting everyone down, and the victims are dying in horrible ways.

Even though I haven't seen all of the seasons yet, I think my personal favorite is always going to be Slasher Ripper, with a Victorian spin on the slasher series. We follow a cast of characters who all deserve to die. These characters rule over their small town with an iron fist, due to their tyrannical leader who kills or tortures anyone that would dare to go against him.

The serial killer who is hunting them is known as the Widow, and this killer does not hold back on how the victims are killed...and let me tell you...the kills are ruthless and some of the goriest kills I have seen in horror!

4. American Horror Story Season 2: Asylum

American Horror Story has featured a lot of serial killers throughout the entirety of their seasons that feature different stories. This era of American Horror Story was amazing, before it turned into...whatever it turned into later.

While the first four seasons did feature a lot of serial killers, I think the most memorable one has to be the killer in the second season. I don't want to give away any spoilers for those who haven't seen the second season, but let's just say that this killer was the first one who scared me in the series.

The killer was so damn creepy, and the performance of the killer was so uncanny. It also was featured through an amazing twist, and the buildup to the reveal was awesome!

3. Bates Motel

Bates Motel is one of the most underrated TV shows, but I thought it was one of the best horror shows ever created. We get a whole backstory to Norman Bates, from the iconic black and white film: Psycho, that was released in 1960.

Norman Bates is a scary serial killer. Due to the trauma he experienced when he was a child and the actions of his mother that he witnesses, he becomes a killer. However, he truly believes that his mother is committing the murders...but little does he know that he has two personalities that take over.

And let me tell you...any person who watches this show is going to feel uncomfortable. The relationship between Norman and his mother is not normal. At all.

2. You

You is an amazing TV show that follows the point of view of a killer named Joe Goldberg. I can't help but love and hate his character. He is such an interesting character, but I can't stand him whenever he murders people who don't deserve it.

Joe goes after anyone that stands in his way of love, and even though he does target evil bastards, some of them are good apples who were in the wrong place at the wrong time with this killer. Joe never hesitates to murder anyone, and that is why he scares me to death.

He is calculated, and doesn't show mercy to anyone that threatens to put his ass in prison. I cannot wait for the final season that will be released this year. I have a gut feeling that his killing spree will finally come to an end!

1. Hannibal

Credit to Bloody Disgusting

Hannibal is hands down the most disturbing and gory serial killer TV show. I struggled to get through the kills in this show, and in a weird way, the deaths were almost like a grotesque painting that you can't look away from. The serial killer in this one is so interesting, since he actually works with the authorities.

A man named Will is working with the police, and he forms a bond with Hannibal. Their relationship builds up to a slow burn romance, which was one of the craziest twists I didn't see coming. Whoever thought that Hannibal could find someone as messed up as he is?

It's a shame that this show was cancelled after three seasons. The storytelling was so awesome, and I hope that one day, we will at get a reboot. It's a perfect horror show, and I loved every minute of it!

What is your favorite horror show on this list? Or do you have another one in mind that I haven't seen yet?
