The Island of Dr. Moreau (1996) is a Great Horror Premise with Amazing Body Horror

Image
Credit to The Island of Dr. Moreau (1996) — IMDb I was told over and over by multiple family members, that this film was pretty disgusting, and that I had to watch it. My curiosity eventually got the better of me, once I was finally able to watch the movie for free on Tubi. The body horror in this movie is definitely in the disgusting radar, and I also felt so bad for the people who became these animal-like creatures.  While this movie did have a pretty bad pacing issue when it came to the events that take place, the movie’s plot was still entertaining, and the body horror was way too impressive to stop watching the film. I honestly enjoyed the characters so much in this film, the actors did their characters justice, and I felt pretty sad once the movie ended.  It’s crazy what some people are willing to do to somehow sustain some form of power over others, these people who were forced to become animals never deserved their awful fates.  The movie begins with a man ...

Our Winter Monster is the Horror Book of the Year

Image
Credit to Amazon.com: Our Winter Monster: 9781641296335: Mahoney, Dennis: Books I know that it’s way too early to state I found the horror book of the year, but Our Winter Monster is way too original to not mention this. I was in Barnes & Noble last year, and I had found the hardcover to Our Winter Monster by accident, and I remember how I couldn’t take my eyes off the cover.  I had a gut feeling this book was a masterpiece, I’m not sure how I knew this, but this cover could never leave the back of my head. I wanted to buy it so bad at the time, but I’m not exactly a fan of hardcovers, so I told myself to wait until it would eventually be released in paperback format.  I’m so glad I waited, because I was finally able to purchase a copy last week in another Barnes & Noble. This felt like I was holding onto a goldmine, and it certainly continued to feel that way once I started to read the book. I don’t normally mention this as often when it comes to horror stories...

Issac Night is Wednesday's Best Villain

Image
Credit to  Wednesday Season 2 | Isaac Night Backstory Scene Recap I finally got to finish Wednesday season 2, and I loved the new villain that was introduced in this season! Issac Night was the new villain for the Addam's family, and he was hands down the best foe yet! I wasn't expecting his backstory to be so fascinating, and his character was written to PERFECT Tim Burton fashion.  I never thought Tim Burton would ever go back to his old ways when it comes to his evil villains, and we finally got another great one, similar to the villains from his old films from the past! What I love about the Wednesday television show, is that it feels like you're watching two of the Beetlejuice films, combined with animation, that is translated into live action.  Tim Burton is a master of his craft when it comes to weird horror, and he pulled it off somehow through a television show, which I never thought he would ever attempt during his career! The weirdness of the show and th...

Undertone and Passengers are Now 2 of My Most Anticipated Horror Movies of the Year

Image
Credit to A24 Reveals New Look at “Unrelentingly Scary” 2026 Horror — Watch The Trailer — ComicBook.com When I went to go watch Primate on Tuesday this week, we got so many horror movie trailers before the film. Two of them were brand new, and I became so tensed up in the theater while watching the trailers. I had no idea these films were even being released, and now these two horror movies are now added to the list of my most anticipated horror films of the year.  Both of these films look so original, and I can’t wait to watch these movies once they are released! I’m going to be going over spoilers right now with both trailers, so if you want to turn back now and go watch the trailer for yourself, I totally get it! Undertone  Credit to The Undertone (2025) — Review | Paranormal Horror Mystery | Heaven of Horror I’m pretty surprised we don’t have enough films that focus on radio stations or podcasts. The only one I have seen that heavily focused on a concept like t...

5 Horror Novels that are Not for the Faint of Heart

Image
Credit to Here’s why R-rated horror movies are making a comeback on the big screen I have recently started on my second batch of books, and I have been so impressed with the horror stories I have read this year. It’s like 2026 was the year meant for extreme horror, and so far, I have not been the least disappointed in the books I have found! The deaths in these novels are also pretty tough to read, and I can’t believe that I accidentally found a bunch of horror novels that stuck to the genre of gore. Only one of the books wasn’t as gory, but the implications behind the deaths was pretty shocking enough, so I thought it had to be included in the list! I guarantee that many horror fans are going to love these messed up stories! Picture of the five books.  5. Psycho by Robert Bloch I was so happy that I finally got to read the book, that was the story behind Alfred Hitchcock’s movie version of the novel! I was not expecting the over the top murders depicted in the story! We fol...

Primate is the Perfect B - Rated Horror Movie of the Year

Image
Credit to PRIMATE Review — Knight Krier I was thrilled that I finally got to check out this movie in theaters. I decided to wait until I was able to go on $5 Tuesday at the Cinemark, because since this was deemed to be a B — rated horror movie, I wanted to wait for $5 Tuesday. I don’t really like to spend money at the theater when it comes to particular films, and I definitely misjudged this film before watching it.  It was pretty mixed with reviews, so I was expecting at least, a decent watch. Instead, I was met with a heartfelt family horror film, who invite a group of friends to spend time with them at their home, only to be ruthlessly attacked by their pet chimp, named Ben.  The movie perfectly sets up the family’s love for Ben, and he represented a symbol of love for the family. He had belonged to the main character’s mother, who had sadly passed away from cancer. It made sense why the family adored Ben, they saw him as another member of the family. Watching the gr...

John Carpenter's The Thing is a Paranoia Induced Nightmare of Body Horror Terror

Image
Credit to John Carpenter’s The Thing (1982). The Thing is a timeless classic that I keep finding myself returning to. I have seen this film a total of 6 times, and every new watch feels like a different experience. I would study every detail of the film, and it does surprise me how I forget certain parts of the story. I think it has to do with the terror that I feel coming from the main group of men in the story, because it’s one of the few horror films where I feel so sorry for the victims.  I consider this film to be in the top 5 worst ways to die in a horror film. The thought of being trapped in the middle of nowhere with no way out, knowing that something not human is hunting you is the worst feeling in the world. It’s a different level of terror that I hope to never experience, and it’s brilliantly executed by the main cast in the story.  Each man in the group plays a huge part for the film, watching these men try to survive against something that scares the shit o...
