Twin Peaks: Beyond Life and Death is One of the Best Episodes of the Series

Image
Credit to Laura Palmer — Meanwhile (Reversed) After an odd season 2 of Twin Peaks, I was so glad to see the show go back to the old roots of David Lynch’s work. He had directed the final episode of season 2, and it ended with a huge twist that must have pissed off fans for years. This episode goes back to the scary horror elements that David Lynch is known for, and poor Dale Cooper finds himself in a game of life or death.  Once his new love named Annie is kidnapped by a serial killer known as Windom Earle, he travels to the woods to find her. He is told about The Black Lodge, a place that only appears when two planets align. If you don’t enter The Black Lodge with courage, your soul will be lost. Dale Cooper bravely ventures into this strange realm but finds himself terrified when he encounters the creepy strangeness of this place.  Meanwhile, Audrey Horne is determined to help her father with his business. She goes to the bank to chain herself to the doors, as a way t...

Twin Peaks Season 2 was a Rollercoaster of Horror and Cliches that Still Finished with a Bang

Image
Credit to Under the Sycamore Trees: The Night ‘Twin Peaks’ Went Off the Air I finally understand why Twin Peaks season 2 has been a mix for so many fans. I enjoyed this season regardless of its flaws, but I feel it’s important to discuss why this season felt so odd. Apparently, there is a whole history to this season, and its pretty shocking how so many directors/writers were involved in the second half of season 2.  The history to season 2 is quite a lot, and I’m planning to talk about this in a future article. Let’s just say that the network decided to interfere in David Lynch’s masterpiece, and it led to creative differences and frustrations. This was a shame to hear about, because it makes me wonder what kind of season we would have gotten if David Lynch had been fully involved.  The first half of season 2 felt like David Lynch’s influence. How Did People Assume The Blair Witch Project was Real Footage?

Image
Credit to ‘The Blair Witch Project’: Into the Black — Film Daze The Blair Witch Project is considered to be the horror movie that began the found footage era among the horror genre. The found footage aspect in this movie was shot so well, with only a $60,000 budget. The footage felt so authentic, and the reactions/emotions of the three main cast members did a fine job. It truly felt like I was watching an actual documentary of what happened to three people in the woods, and the mention of the three of them still missing to this day was a nice take for the creepy storyline.  And I wanted to clarify…that I am aware that this is a movie.  Just a scary movie that was expertly shot with the use of a camera.  I have no idea how people believed this was real footage.  Did it really have to do with the awesome advertising the writers did for the release of their film?  They put up missing posters of the three cast members, used their real names for the movie, and...

What is the Real Ending to The Lighthouse?

Image
Credit to ‘The Lighthouse’ Review: Dark Nights, Troubled Souls, Hairy Men — The New York Times The Lighthouse is a special kind of horror film. We follow the story of two men stuck on a small island working as lighthouse keepers, and both men slowly lose their mind as their stay on the island builds up to complete chaos. When they realize there is no one coming to pick them up from the island, both men go down a path of madness.  Howard (the young one, I’m addressing the characters by their last names, because they have the same first name), gets obsessed with the thought of wanting to be with the light within the lighthouse, and after they overstay their welcome on the island, Wake decides to go after the light on his own. He kills Wake (the older man), and he finally ventures up the lighthouse steps to the light.  Upon touching it, Howard screams in agony, and falls down the stairs. The movie ends with Howard crying in pain as seagulls are eating his insides.  Wh...

The Crow: Wicked Prayer Was Hard for Me to Take Seriously

Image
Credit to  The Crow: Wicked Prayer | Rotten Tomatoes This is one of the few horror movies that I wasn’t able to finish. This movie…feels kind of like a rip off to the original masterpiece. I should have already known that this movie was going to suck. I had already heard from several family members that the first three were pretty good, but they never bothered to mention the fourth movie.  I finally get why they never told me about checking out the fourth one.  The Crow: Wicked Prayer is so freaking dumb. The acting in this movie was so questionable. And that’s because we had three decent actors that I was already familiar with in the horror genre.  Danny Trejo from Dusk Till Dawn. David Boreanaz from the Bones TV show.  Edward Furlong from Terminator 2, where he played the kid.  All three of them gave out great performances in their own horror movies, so why did they seem off in this movie??? Most likely it had to do with the script, but I think it ...

Tender is the Flesh is the Most Disturbing Horror Novel Ever Written

Image
Credit to  Tender Is the Flesh | Book by Agustina Bazterrica, Sarah Moses | Official Publisher Page | Simon & Schuster I've barely read this novel during this week again, and I have to say, this novel is still the most brutal horror novel I have ever read. I had read this book 2 years ago, and it still continues to disturb me in more ways than one. We follow the story of a random dude named Marcos, who is struggling to live in a dystopian world, where it's now normal to be a cannibal. An infection has wiped out all animals, and now the world can no longer eat animal meat to survive. The government gets the idea to switch to human meat, to feed the world, and it now becomes the new norm.  Marcos works at a factory where he helps to distribute human meat, and while he appears stable to his co -workers, his personal life is a nightmare. His father is now in a nursing home, his sister has given herself fully to the dystopian world, his wife had to go live with her mothe...

Resident Evil Requiem is the Perfect Ending for Leon Kennedy in the Resident Evil Franchise

Image
Credit to  RESIDENT EVIL 9: Requiem Gameplay (2026) Leon Kennedy I'm not exactly sure what Capcom has in store for Leon's character in the Resident Evil franchise, but if his journey does end with Resident Evil 9, then this is the perfect send off for his character. Resident Evil Requiem is linked to the past of Leon, when it comes to what he went through in Raccoon City. This was an unexpected twist; and while this game is also Grace's story, Leon's story was connected so well to the rest of the game.  Leon is asked to go and save Grace from Victor Gideon, another infected scientist that dreams of spreading a new zombie virus. Unfortunately, Leon is dealing with a huge problem. Due to his past events in Raccoon City 28 years ago, that specific zombie infection has somehow infected Leon so many years later. Sherry, his assistant for the mission, is also infected, and he is determined to cure the two of them. Other survivors from the past outbreak in Raccoon City had a...
