Pete Did Not Deserve His Fate in Twin Peaks

Image
Credit to  Could we please just talk about what an amazing character Pete is. : r/twinpeaks Pete's death shocked the hell out of me the first time he died at the end of season 2. Pete was a good soul who was pulled into the dangerous schemes of his wife, her lovers, including her own brother. Pete was a good person who surprisingly stayed pure, despite all the bad stuff his family was throwing him into. Pete was also the one who found the dead body of Laura Palmer, so he was the one who truly started off the entire investigation into the death of this young girl.  Then during season 2, Pete went through his own journey, as he found himself trying to survive the crazy schemes orchestrated by his wife and brother-in-law. They are able to get away with so much, to the point where the three of them are spared from further dangers. However, one man that worked with the trio had planted a device for them to solve. The trio eventually are able to solve this strange puzzle, and...

Windom Earle was an Odd Choice for a Villain in Twin Peaks

Image
Credit to  "Twin Peaks" Miss Twin Peaks (TV Episode 1991) - Kenneth Welsh as Windom Earle - IMDb Windom Earle did not feel like he belonged in the universe of Twin Peaks. Once the second half of season 2 fell into the 'soap opera' era, an old foe of Cooper's, known as Windom Earle, entered back into his life. Cooper was romantically involved with his wife, and this connection led to Windom coming after him. I personally did not like Windom Earle. He was way too cartoonish for a show like this, and I honestly thought he belonged in the DC universe, as a Batman villain.  Windom Earle was dangerous, but there was also some comedy thrown into his character, which made no sense for the creepy atmosphere of Twin Peaks. I thought it was kind of silly how he kept on disguising himself as random people, and you're telling me that he was able to blend in so easily among Twin Peaks, a police department that literally dealt with a terrifying supernatural entity? I felt ...

Twin Peaks is the Oddest Show Ever Made

Image
Credit to  Detective Drama Revisited: Twin Peaks and True Detective | Lion and the Hunter I don't think there ever be a show like Twin Peaks.  This show defied Hollywood expectations (minus the second half of season 2 that became a soap opera, but it was due to the network screwing up the imagination of David Lynch), and it did not give a damn.  This show is in my eyes the best horror show ever made.  It wasn't afraid to be weird, and it genuinely freaked me out with how awesome the horror was portrayed, and the visuals were unforgettable.  I'm so glad that David Lynch was about to pull off one more season for the show, because the show needed one more season to officially end the show. It was a perfect ending, and I consider it to be the most terrifying ending ever made.  I love how it left us with unanswered questions, and the ending is always going to scare the crap out of me whenever I think about it.  Twin Peaks is the best horror show ever...

Dale Cooper and Harry Truman Were an Awesome Duo in Twin Peaks

Image
Credit to  In Praise of Twin Peaks' Sheriff Harry Truman - Reactor This team up is one of my favorite duos in television. Dale Cooper, an FBI agent, comes to Twin Peaks to investigate the murder of Laura Palmer. He teams up with the police department, and meets the sheriff, named Harry Truman. What I loved about Harry's character, is that he wasn't your typical egoistical sheriff that got angry with someone wanting to take over the investigation. This trope had gotten pretty annoying from so many other shows or movies I have seen. David Lynch did throw in a corrupt police department in the prequel Twin Peaks movie, and man, Harry felt like a breathe of fresh air.  Harry is portrayed as a genuine good man, who has a huge heart, and cares about everyone in Twin Peaks. He seems thankful to have Dale Cooper take on the case, and despite all the weird stuff that happens throughout the case, such as the supernatural stuff, Harry just rolls with it. I think that he was determi...

Was Leland a Victim or a Monster?

Image
Credit to  Twin Peaks Episode 15 Takes Us Out in the Surrey With the Fringe on Top | TV Obsessive This mystery has been haunting me for a while when it comes to the character of Leland in Twin Peaks. He is the father of Laura Palmer, and in the beginning of the show, the audience feels so sorry for him, because his grieve over losing his daughter breaks him. Leland goes through a cycle of sadness, and everyone witnesses his grieving throughout the first season.  Then in season 2, we get a completely different Leland. His hair is now white, which surprises his family members, such his wife, and his niece, who came over to offer moral support to her aunt and uncle over losing their daughter. Leland appears to be finally moving on from his heavy loss, and despite how odd his happiness is, everyone around him just goes along with it, believing that Leland is going to be alright. Even his wife appears to be healing from her loss, and we get quite a bit of heartfelt scenes be...

Laura Palmer is One of the Most Tragic Characters in Television

Image
Credit to YouTube David Lynch had guts when it came to writing the character of Laura Palmer. I have watched a lot of television in my time, but Laura Palmer's story is probably one of the most tragic stories in television. What's crazy is that even though her character is dead in the very beginning of the show, her character feels so real to the audience. From the way that everyone in Twin Peaks talks about her, it's interesting to get so many different viewpoints of her character.  However, everyone could agree that Laura was indeed a tragic character. She had been thrown into an awful and cruel world, all because she was struggling to battle one of the most powerful entities from the Black Lodge. This evil only got worse when the entity took over her own father, that brought even more trauma to her character. The events that led up to her death was brutal to another level, and it was so sad how she had died in fear. The prequel film to her story was so hard to watch, a...

Ed and Norma Were Another Couple that Got Their Happy Ending

Image
Credit to  Twin Peaks recap: Season 3, Episode 15 The storyline of Ed and Norma has always been a crazy rollercoaster.  It was obvious they were in love with each other, but there were so many obstacles that kept them apart.  Ed was married to Nadine, and Norma was dealing with her husband who had gone to prison.  Norma's problem was solved when her husband was sent to prison again for his new crimes in Twin Peaks, after Nadine beat the crap out of him for trying to hurt Ed. The main issue was the marriage between Ed and Nadine. I felt that it was hard for Ed to leave Nadine, because she was a very good person who happened to gain super strength from out of nowhere.  They eventually got to be together when Nadine hit her head, and she ended up believing she was still in high school. She got with a random kid named Mike, that became a little bit of a problematic relationship during season 2. Ed and Norma were going to get married, but things didn't work ou...

What is the White Lodge in Twin Peaks?

Image
Credit to  The White Lodge Machines : r/twinpeaks The White Lodge is the only supernatural realm that is never shown throughout the entire series. We only get snippets from Deputy Hawk, and Major Briggs, about the existence of the White Lodge. These two characters really appeared to know how the White Lodge worked, and only Major Briggs was the only one who was able to come into contact with this realm out of all the characters.  I believe that Major Briggs was the only one who was able to reach this realm, because of his good heart. It also makes sense why Major Briggs was killed by Mr. C, Cooper's doppelganger, in the third season, because he probably saw Major Briggs as a huge threat to him.  Fans also theorize that the main area of The Giant/The Fireman was the one who lived in the White Lodge. This is a pretty interesting theory, because this was one of the few realms in the show where everything felt peaceful, instead of like a threat.  I feel that Bobby...

Andy and Lucy Brennan Was the Cutest Couple in Twin Peaks: The Return

Image
Credit to  Review: Nostalgia fuels gorgeous, goofy and disturbing 'Twin Peaks' revival I was so happy to finally get a glimpse into the marries life of Andy and Lucy Brennan. They were a slow burn romance in the old seasons, and even though they did date for a short period of time, it was obvious that they still wanted to be together. Their relationship was officially confirmed in the final episode of season 2, and their marriage is fully shown in the final season of Twin Peaks.  Andy and Lucy both act goofy with each other, but they both portray moments of being stronger when it comes to wanting to protect each other. One moment with Andy was when he was contacted by an entity from the Red Room, warning him about Cooper's evil doppelganger coming to the police department. One of the few things that Andy really focused on was his wife during a vision he got from this entity. He becomes determined to protect her, and he literally follows the vision step by step, to ensur...

The Biggest Tragedy of Twin Peaks was Audrey and Cooper Never Reuniting

Image
Credit to  Love Story: Audrey Horne and Dale Cooper | Twin Peaks Freaks Dale Cooper and Audrey had formed a very strong bond in the old seasons of Twin Peaks. Audrey had revealed her obvious crush on Cooper, but he remained only friends with her, since Audrey was still in high school, and Cooper was not that kind of man. Despite this rejection, Audrey always remained close with him, and their bond only grew stronger.  Dale Cooper really cared about Audrey over the course of the old seasons, and he even rescued her from a dangerous situation, after she was kidnapped by a killer in season 2. Then they weren't really getting that many scenes together during the second half of season 2.  There was an alleged rumor that Audrey and Cooper were actually supposed to have more scenes together, but at the time, the actor who played Dale Cooper was dating one of his co - stars from Twin Peaks, who turned out to be super jealous of his screentime with the actress who played Au...

Frank Truman Was a Good Replacement for One of the Best Characters in Twin Peaks

Image
Credit to  Why Michael Ontkean's Sheriff Harry S. Truman Left Twin Peaks Frank Truman was the new sheriff of Twin Peaks in the police department, taking the place of Harry Truman, one of the best characters from the old Twin Peaks. Even though I deeply missed Harry's character, and I was sad that we never got a reunion between Harry and Cooper, I found myself really liking Frank's character. He was down to earth and took action when it came to investigating Cooper's disappearance.  Just like Harry, he accepted everything that was happening, despite the strange supernatural events that were occurring in Twin Peaks. I also appreciated how David Lynch never forgot about Harry's character. During the final season, Harry was constantly mentioned by so many characters, including by Frank, who was speaking to Harry over the phone. He was battling an illness behind the scenes, and had to rest. Everyone assured him that he was going to recover, and it was so heartfelt, kno...

Diane Has One of the Most Tragic Stories in Twin Peaks

Image
Credit to  Twin Peaks: Laura Dern on the true 'love story' of Agent Cooper and Diane Diane was given one of the saddest stories among the characters of Twin Peaks. Diane was only a background character in the old seasons of Twin Peaks. It was heavily implied that Dale Cooper shared a powerful bond with her, since he always addressed Diane whenever he would record his cases on a tape recorder. Diane is finally introduced in Twin Peaks: The Return, but right off the bat, Diane doesn't seem like herself. The way that Cooper would always speak to her on the tape recorder in such a bubbly manner appeared to hint the two of them were quite close, but Diane is now a miserable person in the final season.  This sudden personality change is eventually addressed, when Diane interacts with Cooper's evil doppelganger for the first time. The FBI learns that Diane and Mr. C had met once, many years ago, but the implications of the meeting appeared to come off sinister.  Diane tel...

Philip Jeffries is the Strangest Mystery in Twin Peaks

Image
Credit to Does Phillip Jeffries think that’s Mr. C? : r/twinpeaks Philip Jeffries is by far the strangest character in Twin Peaks. And that’s coming from a show that is known for it’s strange characters, but Philip really takes the cake here among the main cast. He is played by David Bowie, and he portrays an FBI agent that that worked on the Blue Rose case, that apparently investigated the strange supernatural connections that were somehow linked to Laura Palmer’s death.  He appears only in one scene throughout the entire series, which is the prequel movie, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me. We watch Dale Cooper in the FBI headquarters, attempting to do something weird with the cameras inside of the building. He tells two other FBI agents, Gordon Cole and Albert, about a strange dream that he had, and it had something to do with Philip Jeffries.  Dale Cooper keeps on checking the cameras, and he eventually sees something quite eerie on the camera. He sees himself standing ...

What is the Purpose of the Red Room in Twin Peaks?

Image
Credit to  Iconography of the Red Room | Twin Peaks Gazette The Red Room is one of the biggest mysteries in Twin Peaks. Back in the older seasons, the Red Room was seen as a huge threat. The Red Room was first introduced in Twin Peaks when Dale Cooper was first investigating the death of Laura Palmer. He finds himself in the Red Room during a dream, and then he is able to enter the Red Room in the real world in season 2. He ventures to the Red Room when he learns that a woman that he had fallen in love with had been taken to the Red Room, by a serial killer that had been hunting Cooper for a long time.  This turns out to be Dale's biggest mistake, and he is stuck in the Red Room for 25 years straight, and a doppelganger takes his place. In the new season, the Red Room no longer appears to be a threat to either Cooper or anyone else.  The Red Room comes off as a problem solver in season 3, creating doppelgangers to take the places of particular people in the real wo...

Benjamin Horne was Surprisingly Given a Proper Character Arc for the Final Season of Twin Peaks

Image
Credit to  What's your take on Ben Horne? : r/twinpeaks Benjamin Horne was one of the biggest scumbags from the old seasons of Twin Peaks. He was the father of Audrey Horne, who was seen as a powerful businessman in Twin Peaks. He owned a hotel, and used his power and wealth to get what he wanted. He hired people to murder for him, slept with a lot of women in Twin Peaks, had a secret daughter who was actually Donna Hayward, and his poor daughter was the one who found out a of dark truths about her father when she had snuck in a secret resort to help Dale Cooper with Laura Palmer's case.  He also had slept with Laura Palmer, who was literally his daughter's age...and this was a huge problematic reveal in the show.  Audrey was obviously pissed off at her father over all of these shocking truths, and Horne began to go through a spiral of madness during his journey in season 2. Once he finally went through his 'healing process,' he vowed to change for his daughter....

I'm Happy Dougie's Family Got a Happy Ending in Twin Peaks

Image
Credit to  Twin Peaks Film Location - The Jones House | TWIN PEAKS BLOG Dougie Jones was another doppelganger or a tulpa that was created by Mr. C, to either continue his reign of corruption, or to throw off the scent of the Black Lodge. Dale Cooper is able to escape from the Red Room, and he is teleported to the location of Dougie Jones, and he takes his place. Dale Cooper becomes the new Dougie, and his mind resorts to a childlike state, most likely due to the traumatic effects of being in the Red Room for 25 years straight.  Even though Dougie Jones was a total asshole, he had a very good family. His wife, Janey, and his son, Sonny Jim, were really good people, who unfortunately were stuck with a lot of issues, due to the bad decisions of Dougie. Somehow, Dale is able to turn things around for his new family, providing them with a better life, and even makes new friends with two dangerous men, including the insurance company that Dougie worked for.  How Dale was...

Why I'm Glad Donna Never Returned to Twin Peaks: The Return

Image
Credit to  Pin on Twin Peaks Donna was the most annoying character in the original seasons of Twin Peaks. Donna Hayward was a high school student who shared a strong bond with Laura Palmer, and her boyfriend, James. Donna was stuck in a love triangle between James and Laura, and even after Laura's death, she was still stuck in a love triangle with James, when Laura's look alike cousin was introduced within the show.  Donna was the type of character who always wanted to take action, no matter the consequences. She got other people involved in her schemes, to figure out who had killed Laura. I understand that she was angry over the death of her best friend, but the fact that she would pull both James and Madeline in her schemes to solve Laura's murder pissed me off. She constantly put her friends in the worst situations and was sort of involved in the death of one guy named Harold Smith, who was close with Laura. Donna really felt like she had that 'main character energ...

Was Judy Responsible for the Tragic Fate of Dale Cooper?

Image
Credit to  Lucifer Morningstar Vs Judy (Twin Peaks) - Battles - Comic Vine The one thing that I never saw coming with the final season was Sarah Palmer getting possessed. The one thing I couldn't figure out was who would want to take over her body from the Red Room or the Black Lodge, and it turned out to be one of the most powerful entities from the Black Lodge. We had witnessed her birth in episode 8 of the final season, when the entities from the Black Lodge were first created. One entity known as the Fireman headed over to a radio station to murder two people, and began to speak a poem over and over, to allow the possession of Sarah Palmer to take place. She was a young girl who unfortunately had her window open that night, not aware that a powerful entity was going to take over her body.  It all makes sense why Sarah Palmer had displayed signs of her strange abilities throughout the old seasons. I always questioned why she was born with her abilities, and how she w...

Mr. C is an Evil Mystery Within Twin Peaks

Image
Credit to  Who Created Dougie? | Twin Peaks Gazette Mr. C is the evil doppelganger of Dale Cooper, an FBI agent who ended up stuck in the Red Room for 25 years. Mr. C takes his place in the real world, wreaking havoc upon anybody who stands in his way. Mr. C became determined to not return to the Red Room, where he would be sent back to the Black Lodge. Mr. C apparently had a time limit with staying on Earth, and he was doing whatever he could to avoid going back to his realm.  His stay on Earth during the 25-year mark was terrifying, because he hurt so many people that Dale Cooper was close to, and I can't imagine the confusion of all of these people over the years, wondering why Cooper had transformed into an evil monster. It was so scary how Mr. C came off as a soulless monster, he was truly the complete opposite of what Dale Cooper was.  Luckily, the police department back in Twin Peaks had already figured out the real truth, and due to the father of Bobby Brig...

Andy Brennan Became a Badass Character in Twin Peaks: The Return

Image
Credit to  Twin Peaks Location - Andy Waits for the Farmer | TWIN PEAKS BLOG Andy Brennan was another character in the final season of Twin Peaks that caught me off guard. Andy went from a shy and lovable goofball in the old seasons to a courageous man that was willing to face any type of danger in Twin Peaks. After the finale in season 2, this change for Andy made perfect sense. Before the ending of season 2, during a beauty pageant, Twin Peaks was attacked by a serial killer, leaving everyone in pure chaos. Lucy was terrified after the event, and Andy told his future wife that he would have been by her side no matter what, proving that Andy was more than a goofball.  There was a warrior hidden within Andy, and I wonder if his marriage to Lucy was the reason why he became a changed man.  In Twin Peaks: The Return, we are still following the Andy that we know and love, but this time around, he is willing to face the danger head on. He learns from Bobby Briggs about...

What was the Purpose of the Glass Box in Twin Peaks?

Image
Credit to Vacant Peaks — The Glass Box | TWIN PEAKS BLOG Twin Peaks: The Return begins with a man named Sam, that is told to watch a glass box, that is owned by a billionaire. Sam catches the interest of a woman named Tracey, who is in charge of bringing Sam his coffee. She asks if she can check out the glass box with Sam, but the security guard informs Tracey that she is not allowed to. Sam agrees, and Tracey looks disappointed, but reluctantly leaves.  Shortly after their first meeting, Tracey asks Sam again if she can check out the glass box with him. Since the security guard wasn’t present, Sam lets her tag along. They sit down on the couch in the room with the glass box, and the two of them begin to make out, eventually leading to a moment of passion.  A figure appears in the glass box at that very moment, and the duo watch in horror as the monster is floating in the box. It proceeds to attack Sam and Tracey, mutilating the two of them.  The glass box is shown...

What Did the Ending of Twin Peaks Mean?

Image
Credit to Twin Peaks Ending Explained: What Year Is This? Twin Peaks: The Return has one of the most shocking, scary, and confusing mystery endings I have ever seen on television. I think it was a bad idea to watch this finale at night, because once the episode ended, the dread that was left in my soul was one of the most awful feelings I’ve ever felt from a fictional story.  In the final episode of Twin Peaks, Dale Cooper decides to do the impossible. He goes back in time to save the life of Laura Palmer, the one person who led Dale Cooper to his fate among Twin Peaks, and he was now determined to make sure she would never have to go through her horrific final end on Earth.  Cooper travels to an alternate reality, where he rescues Laura Palmer. He takes her away from her fate of murder, and now he finds Laura, now known as Carrie Page, living in another small town. He offers to take her to Twin Peaks, back to her old home, when he realizes that Carrie has no memory of ...

Twin Peaks: The Return is a Masterfully Written Piece of Horror Television

Image
Credit to   Twin Peaks — The Return — Red Room Comparison (Parts 2 & 8) Twin Peaks: The Return is officially the best horror show ever written. I cannot put into words how much I truly enjoyed this masterpiece. This show exceeds Hollywood expectations, delving into a whole other universe where not everything is ever explained, but you can’t look away. We return to the small town of Twin Peaks 25 years later, and we are now in modern times.  Dale Cooper is still stuck in the Red Room after his heroic sacrifice to save Annie Blackburn, who had been kidnapped by a serial killer at the end of season 2. Dale unfortunately ended up stuck in a supernatural realm for 25 years, and his evil doppelganger known as Mr. C was the one to take his place in the real world, causing havoc for more than 2 decades.  While Mr. C is one of the few dangerous entities from the Black Lodge, there were also those that wanted to help both Dale Cooper and his old companions from Twin...
