Mia Goth pulls off such a likable character with terrifying tendencies of murder and mayhem. Pearl  is actually a prequel to one of my favorite horror films,  X , and is the middle chapter in a trilogy. This trilogy was directed by Ti West, and it featured Mia Goth playing two different characters, as both the antagonist and the protagonist in this trilogy. The prequel starts off Mia as the villain, Pearl. Unlike the protagonist, Maxine, that has her dreams come true, Pearl isn’t exactly given the same happy ending. If it hadn’t been for her killer self, maybe she would have had a chance in the ‘star world.’ Instead, we are given a total downfall of Pearl embracing her monstrous side, killing anyone that stands in her way. The feeling that I felt was pure dread, and I was in shock the first time I had seen the film. I didn’t think I would ever be able to experience that kind of tension again. Then, Ti West brought a modern masterpiece to horror fans, taking place in the ’70s. The story follows a girl named Maxine, who is traveling with a group of people who are determined to film a movie.   Credit to  POSSESSION | The Beacon It’s rare for horror movies to bother the hell out of me, but  Possession  was one of the few that took me out. In other words, this movie made me extremely uncomfortable during my first watch. I think it had to do with the fact that I watched this movie at a bad time. I had started watching  Possession  back in 2022, and I was sick with COVID while watching this film. I actually wasn’t that sick, but I still felt out of it. I think I was, like, a 4/10 at most. I was also kind of stressed out while watching this film because I had been attending online summer college courses around that time, too.
