5 Horror Movie Deaths that Shocked Me
I have witnessed a lot of horror movies that have left me freaking out with a character death I did not see coming! It's awesome to see that horror movies find a way to surprise horror fans in different ways when it comes to the brutal deaths!
I'm sure that the majority of you have watched these horror movies, but I still want to include a spoiler warning in case none of you have seen these movies yet!
TURN BACK NOW IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN ANY OF THESE MOVIES!
Warning: This article will contain huge spoilers to these five horror films!
5. Charlie (Hereditary)
Hereditary is one of the saddest films I have seen when it comes to a family being targeted by evil. Charlie was the daughter of the main character, who meets a horrific end during an accident. She attends a party with her brother, and she eats a cake that has something she is allergic to.
Her brother panics, and he drives as fast as he can to get Charlie help. During her allergic reaction attack, she leans out of the window, and her head strikes a pole. The brother in total shock, drives all the way home, and the audience ends up finding out that her head had fallen off after she hit the pole.
Her death was beyond unexpected, and it was even worse, knowing that she was the youngest child in the family. And the grieve of the family that follows is so damn tragic.
4. Keith (Barbarian)

Barbarian was one of the best films with one of the most shocking villain reveals in horror history. We follow the story of a woman named Tess who learns that a stranger named Keith is staying at the same Airbnb. She decides to stay with him, but she is slowly getting suspicious, since he is a total stranger.
Once Tess finds out that something far darker is taking place at the Airbnb, Keith decides to investigate. The duo finds a secret tunnel hidden within the home, and Keith ventures deep into the tunnel. Tess panics and tries to find Keith, but when he appears to her, he is in a panic state.
At that moment, Keith is instantly murdered by a huge humanoid creature. The movie immediately subverts expectations when the movie goes from a possible creepy stranger threat to a monster film. It's a genius move on the director's part, and man, I felt so sorry for Keith!
3. Tyler (Presence)
Presence was an original story that really impressed me. We follow a family of four, that appears to have it rough. The daughter named Chloe learns that a spirit is inside of the house, and the family tries to deal with this new development in their lives.
Chloe's loss of her best friend and another girl have led to the rest of the family struggling to stay afloat, as they each try to live out their new lives in a new home. Chloe and her brother Tyler meet a kid from their high school named Ryan, who gets close with both siblings. Chloe and Ryan start to date, and we the audience learn that something is up with Ryan.
We find out his true intentions when he turns out to be a serial killer, who attempts to murder Chloe. Tyler comes to her rescue, but in his anger, he slams Ryan so hard, that both boys crash through Chloe's bedroom window. They both die, and the movie ends with the family now attempting to move on from this sudden loss. It was so shocking, and one of the saddest endings I have seen to a horror film!
2. Arnie (Christine)

The first time I watched this movie, I was so shocked to see the second main character die. Arnie Cunningham was a shy kid who was constantly bullied in school, but he eventually gets confidence when he meets a red Plymouth Fury named Christine.
He forms a romantic relationship with the vehicle, (I'm not playing when I say this), and his attachment to the car is what leads to his downfall. I was expecting Arnie to be saved by his best friend and the girl who had feelings for him, but he straight up dies at the end.
I honestly thought that he would get a happy ending...Arnie had a good soul, who deserved a second chance at life, but the possession of the car was just too strong.
1. Beau (A Quiet Place)
I will never forget the reaction of the audience in the theater the first time I watched this film. The Abbott family was one of the few survivors who was trying to thrive in the alien invasion. Beau was the youngest child of the Abbott family, who kicks the bucket in the beginning of the first film.
Beau wants to play with a toy airplane, but remains stubborn when he wants to hear the sound. He sneaks the batteries into the toy when no one in the family is looking, and he turns on the toy. An alien shows up in seconds and murders Beau in front of the family.
That was one of the strongest starts to a horror film, and I loved how the director did not give a shit with killing off a kid. It set the tone for the rest of the franchise, and it has remained strong ever since!
What other horror film deaths should I talk about next?
