I’m aware that I have been writing a lot about Bruce Campbell lately, but this dude this come out in a lot of horror movies that I love. Army of Darkness is the third film in the Evil Dead franchise, and I feel that a lot of people aren’t a huge fan of this one.
I know how cheesy this film was compared to the rest of the Evil Dead films, but despite the lack of scares and violence, this film was an entertaining adventure. I loved how hilarious Army of Darkness was, and this one did deliver on a lot of iconic cheesy lines and funny moments I did not expect from Ash, one of the best final boys in horror.
I know that Army of Darkness was supposed to be another gory film in the franchise, but due to a lot of studio interference, we got the only Evil Dead film with a lack of gore. A lot of people don’t associate this film with the Evil Dead franchise at all, because people felt like a huge opportunity was missed out on this film.
Evil Dead 2 ended with one of the best endings in horror, trapping Ash in a medieval world where he must fight the demons. I’m sure that a lot of horror fans were expecting a full-on battle royale against the evil, but we got a comedic and action adventure with Ash’s character.
In my personal opinion, I did not mind the change.

Army of Darkness is one of my favorite horror films of all time.
I love how purposely cheesy this film is, and I love how action packed this film was. I had a lot of fun with it the first time I watched it. I love all of the Evil Dead films in different ways, and I really liked how the story was tackled in the third entry.
What makes the franchise so special with each film is how different they each are. Army of Darkness is its own movie, and I think it’s a damn good horror story. Plus, we get Ash at his most comedic yet, and probably his most heroic yet too, despite the fact that he never wanted to be a hero in the first place lol.
You could tell in one part of the movie that Ash was so done, and I did not even blame him. I would get so tired of taking down demons for who knows how long, and this dude was so fed up toward the third act of the film.
