Come To Daddy is a Thrill Horror Ride with Fantastic Twists and Brutal Deaths
I can’t believe I forgot about the majority of this film. I had purchased this film years ago when I was in college, and all I could remember was that some guy named Norval came to visit his shady dad.
In the beginning of the film, you learn that Norval is a privileged rich kid who has a dad that abandoned him years ago. He writes a letter to his son, asking Norval to come visit him.
Norval finds out the hard way that his dad kinda sucks.
- He breaks his phone.
2. He calls him the worst kind of names.
3. He isn’t impressed by his lifestyle.
4. He taunts Norval with his past ‘drinking problem.’
5. And he makes rude comments about Norval’s mother.
So, it appears that the relationship between Norval and his father is off to a bad start. In other words, his dad is a total asshole.
The father and son duo eventually reach their breaking point, and they get into an argument. Then something really unexpected happens…
Norval’s father dies of a heart attack, and Norval goes through a lot of psychological torture.
Norval’s father attempts to murder his own son with a cleaver, but immediately has a heart attack, and dies. Norval freaks out, and calls the authorities.
There is only one problem.
Due to a flood that affected the area, there is no room to keep the body at the morgue, so Norval must stay with his father’s body in his father’s home. Obviously, Norval doesn’t take the news well.
What’s even worse, is that Norval goes back to drinking, and he begins to hear his father making strange ‘clanging against metal noises’ in the middle of the night.
Is this really happening? Or is Norval going crazy?
I uh…the next part I’m about to mention is probably one of the best twists I have seen in a horror movie in a long time.
How could I have forgotten about this movie???
Norval realizes that his real father was being held hostage by an imposter pretending to be his father.
This twist was excellent. I could feel Norval’s panic when he discovered a hidden cubby hole in the house, finding photos of a man that doesn’t look like his asshole father.
It turns out those weird ‘clanging metal noises’ he kept hearing belonged to a secret passage that held his real father hostage.
Unfortunately, he learns that his real father also really sucks.
His father confesses to him that the reason why Norval was so rich to begin with, was because his father had teamed up with old friends to kidnap a daughter that had a rich family.
After they received their ransom, Norval’s father ran off with the money, making sure that his family was going to be secure for the rest of their lives.
I gotta be honest here, I think this was the only sweet thing that this man was capable of.
It’s crazy that he had kept Norval and his mother’s location a secret for so long, and that he endured torture in almost a lighthearted manner.
In other words, Norval’s real father had balls of steel, and was absolutely crazy.
It doesn’t help that Norval learns from his father that he must do whatever it takes to ensure the survival of himself and his father.
What happens next involves some of the craziest horror sequences ever, with brutal, realistic kills that will bother the hell out of you.
The practical effects of all of the deaths were done so well, kudos to the team behind the making of this film!
The film was also surprisingly wholesome in some moments, and was pretty hilarious as well.
In other words, poor Norval really got himself into a pickle here.
Sorry for that stupid corny joke here. I had to do it.
You guys gotta watch this movie! It’s one of the best horror gems I have seen this year!
