Sherlock BBC The Hounds of Baskerville Delivers an Entertaining Horror Story
The BBC modern Sherlock TV show has gained millions of fans, due to the awesome storytelling and the chemistry between the actors who play Sherlock and John Watson. I was not expecting a horror like episode to be featured in season 2, based on the old school Sherlock story called, The Hounds of Baskerville. This idea was executed brilliantly, and I loved all of the horror stereotypes that were thrown into this one episode.
A lab is 'supposedly' creating monsters.
One of the beasts gets loose, and goes after people, killing them.

The atmosphere of the woods along with a white mist is the environment of where the beast lives.
So yeah, it's pretty cool how the writers combined these ideas into a fun crime episode that was slowly building up to a reveal that the beast wasn't 'real' after all. The episode became ten times better when Sherlock goes crazy for a bit, not wanting to believe that what he saw was real.
I guess we could throw in psychological horror too lol.
I love it when crime shows throw in a random horror episodes like this, because it really does show how talented the writers are, and that they know how to create a great episode that solely focuses on horror.
Are there any Sherlock fans out there? And what did you think of this episode?
Great breakdown of the episode! A good film production house knows how to blend genres seamlessly, and this episode proved it. The eerie cinematography and psychological tension made it feel like a true horror film within a crime series—absolutely brilliant!
ReplyDeleteI agree, it was a well-done episode with a mix of horror and crime fiction! :D
