The Outsider is One of Stephen King's Most Disturbing Stories
The Outsider is one of the few Stephen King stories that makes me feel sick to my stomach. The story is both a horror and detective crime story, when it comes to the terrifying case of a child who is murdered. People claim that they saw a man named Terry Maitland, covered in the blood of the kid he killed. He is immediately arrested for this crime, but the case only gets stranger when the detective realizes that Terry was in two places at once.
This discovery leads to something far darker, to the possible existence of a monster that is a shapeshifter, taking on the appearance of anyone to commit his sick crimes.
I struggled to get through this story, due to how horrific the crimes were. This is one of the few Stephen King books I would not recommend to anyone. Viewer discretion is strongly advised for anyone interested in checking out this book.
I had to take a two week break while reading this one.
