Joe Goldberg is a fictional serial killer from the TV show, You.
When Joe Goldberg falls in love with someone, he will do anything in his power to make sure that no one will get in the way of his love. He will murder anyone who dares to turn against him, and he will even kill his ‘love’ if she no longer wants to be with him.
Isn’t that freaking INSANE?
The first time I saw this guy; he scared the crap out of me. Right away, we the viewers are introduced to his dark side. We shouldn’t be rooting for a stalker who is willing to murder, but we can’t help ourselves.
His character is fascinating, because he is beyond delusional when it comes to his fantasies. He truly believes that murder is not wrong. He does not think he is a monster.
He makes us root for him when he murders total assholes, but when it comes to several of his victims being at the wrong place at the wrong time, that is when we get pissed off at his character.
It’s an odd back and forth I feel with Joe’s character, and I can’t help but root for him in several parts of the TV show. He is so damn entertaining, and I am always curious to see what he thinks of next!
Or even worse, who is next victim will be.
Because in the end, that woman will see his dark side.
And he will decide their fates.
