Thomas Edison Wanted to Build a Device to Speak with the Dead

I was watching a paranormal show, and during one of the few segments, they brought up a real story of Thomas Edison wanting to build a ‘spirit device’ to speak with the dead. This caught my attention, and once I had free time to write, I searched up this theory online.
Back in the 1920s, Thomas Edison was exploring the theories of spiritualism and spiritism movements that became popular after World War I. He wanted to create a device for people to speak with the dead, after he heard about the loved ones that people lost during the war.
He truly believed that it was possible to use technology to pull off this idea, and this theory sparked an argument of people wondering if this was a hoax or actually a real thing Edison wanted to do.
This discovery was found in his personal diary, that contained his ideas of wanting to build a spirit device. The country of France found the original translation of Edison’s diary, and they uncovered his real words behind the spirit device, proving that he indeed wanted to create this technology.
This real story with Edison is beyond interesting. I can’t believe this was a real thing. It’s awesome to know that one of the best inventors had a little bit of love for the horror genre in his own way.
I’m now curious if he told any people about this idea before he died. I’m wonder if Edison could have pulled off an idea like this if he hadn’t passed away.
I honestly don’t think technology ever could have accomplished the idea of communicating with the dead, but it would have been so cool to have someone attempt such a feat!
