I Was Having a Rough Day and a Horror Book Cheered Me Up

I haven’t really been myself lately. This week hasn’t been the best, and I have been trying to get by every day. I haven’t been sleeping well, and a lot has been on my mind.

I decided that I should go to a store filled with books, to hopefully cheer me up. Books always have that effect on me, and I instantly feel good when I am in a bookstore. I chose to go to Target, to see what kind of horror books have been released.

I hadn’t been to Target in a long time, and I went in the morning on Thursday, not caring about the rainy weather. I wanted some time to myself, and this is exactly what I needed.

I did get kind of mad at the GPS before I arrived at the store though. The damn thing was trying to take me to who knows where, but I chose to ignore it, and I got myself to Target instead lol.

When I arrived, I headed straight for the books. I was so surprised to see the huge new collection they had in stock, and I was analyzing every single book there. And then I stumbled upon a book I had been wanting for a long time.

‘The Only One Left’ by Riley Sager.

Photo of book I bought.

I was in shock to find this one in stock, I had been hunting down the paperback book for so long. I almost bought it at Barnes & Noble, but I was not going to spend $20 on this novel. I decided to wait in case, and sure enough, the wait was worth it.

It was the only left.

Random: I thought it would be kind of funny to make this joke. It’s the title of the book, and it was the only one left…My mom thought it was funny lol.

I took the book with me, not caring how much it would come out to. When I arrived at the register, I got another nice surprise, when the lady charged me $12.75 for the book, instead of $15ish.

I had no idea this book had some deal going on at Target, if you have the app, sometimes some purchases will come with cheaper prices.

I was in so much shock, I couldn’t believe how cheap I got this book. It has always been $14–$20, and this really made my day. This stranger had no idea how much I needed this. I didn’t even care when I had to drive home in the rain. I felt so good for the first time this week.

Now every time I look at this book, I will be reminded of how it helped me get through a tough week.
