The Jurassic Park Franchise is Not the Same Without the Practical Effects
I recently heard that the new Jurassic World Rebirth was not a homerun with audiences. It’s a huge shame, because I thought that this film would finally break the barrier with the recent Jurassic Park films. From what I kept reading, the story wasn’t exactly the best.
Is it seriously that hard to write a good Jurassic Park film nowadays?
Despite the film not doing well, there is another criticism that fans kept mentioning about the new film. Everyone really misses the practical effects of the old trilogy. I miss getting spooked by how raw the dinos used to look. I still can’t get over the fact that the dinos were actually built in the original films.

They built an animatronic that resembles a T — Rex. Think about how much work went into that thing…and man, that animatronic is terrifying. I will never forget how much that dino freaked me out the first time I saw that thing. How I wish I got to see that T — Rex up close. I would have loved to have seen it move and scare the crap out of me.
I did actually come close to seeing a robotic T — Rex one time at a zoo, but that is another story for another day. And yes, it was awesome and creepy at the same time. :)
This is what the new films are missing. Perhaps the lack of stories in the new Jurassic Park films could have been saved if the dinosaurs were built. Because the audience would have been scared of the animatronics.
The fear is dearly missed by audiences.
The first three films scared me. I miss feeling scared by dinosaurs that were built by the production crew.
I know that the third film in the original Jurassic Park trilogy did use CGI mostly, but there were moments of actual animatronics, so I will always defend the third film. And the story wasn’t half bad either.
I feel that the production crew and the director are slowly getting lazier as time passes in Hollywood. They would rather throw CGI over everything than put sweat and tears into making a practical masterpiece. It really sucks, because this franchise has become a cash grab instead of something that we fans used to enjoy.
How do you feel about this development within the Jurassic Park franchise? Do you miss the practical effects?
