5 Horror Novels that Fans Would Love in Time for Halloween

Image
Credit to Books In Print Halloween is already right around the corner, and I’m beyond excited to celebrate this wonderful month. It’s a time for all horror fans to enjoy celebrating their love for the genre, and we can also show our love for horror novels during this time too! I’m a massive horror fan of books, and I love all kinds of genres when it comes to horror. Slashers, monsters, psychological terror, I’m a huge fan.  Here are five horror books that should be read in time for Halloween: 5. The God of Endings by Jacqueline Holland  I misjudged this horror novel the first time I found this book. I was expecting a boring and slow build up focused on a single vampire, but this story was so much more than that.  We follow the story of a woman who was forced to become a vampire in the 1800s, and we go back and forth from the past to her present time in the 1980s, as she struggles with her hunger and horrible things that occur throughout her life.  You will fee...

Talk to Me is a Cutthroat Tale of Grief and Horror

Image
Credit to Talk to Me (2023) | Rotten Tomatoes I have watched this movie several years ago, and I was so impressed by how disturbing and gory this film was. The trailer barely gave anything away, and I knew I was in for a good time once I saw this film in theaters. It takes a lot for me to look away from the screen from gory scenes, but man, some parts of this film were so damn brutal! We follow the story of a group of kids, who discover a supernatural sculpture in the shape of a hand. There are random writings all over this hand, and the kids learn that this hand is special, and can be used to communicate with the dead, inviting them into their bodies for a quick possession.  In the beginning of the film, we already get a terrible introduction of the kind of damage this hand can do. A random kid at a college party goes on a rampage, attacking his brother out of the blue with a knife. While everyone is running away in fear, the kid doesn’t hesitate to shove the blade through ...

Nightwatch (1994) is a Disturbing and Unpredictable Murder Mystery

Image
Credit to Nightwatch streaming: where to watch movie online? I don’t normally include the year that a film is made in the title. However, since there are quite a few films and I think a TV show with the same title, I added the year so that readers wouldn’t be confused with which film I’m going to be discussing today.  I barely got enough sleep last night as I write this, but I couldn’t stop watching this film. It left me guessing what was going to happen until the very end, and I was not expecting this film to feel so raw. The characters in this movie feel so real, the acting feels so natural, especially when they find themselves in the middle of a murder investigation.  I did hear that horror fans adored this film, and I finally understand why this film is a cult classic with audiences! The story follows a man named Martin, who takes on the job of a nightwatchmen for a morgue.  Credit to Review: Nightwatch (1994) — FilmCarnage.com Martin is hanging out with h...

'Return to Silent Hill' is Giving Me Mixed Feelings

Image
Credit to Return to Silent Hill Teaser Made Me Excited But Also Worried : r/silenthill We were finally given a teaser trailer for the third Silent Hill film, and I’m not sure whether I should feel excited or not over the sneak peek we got from the film. Return to Silent Hill is based on a videogame from the horror franchise, known as Silent Hill 2 .  It was received and praised by all horror fans, including the recent remake we got back in 2024.  After watching the new trailer for this videogame adaptation…I’m not sure how to feel about it.  Visually, it looks great. The horror atmosphere is definitely there, and the small glimpse we got of the monsters looks fantastic. I was in shock to see a crowd of monsters walking down a hallway in one scene of the trailer, and it looked so damn awesome.  I’m still upset over the main character not looking like the dude I’m familiar with from the game.  James Sunderland is the main protagonist of Silent Hill 2, ...

5 Horror Films with the Worst Alien Invasions in Sci - Fi History

Image
Credit to War of the Worlds (2005) - Hey, we won that one, right? - Mutant Reviewers One of my personal scares when it comes to horror movies is alien invasions. I have seen my fair share of alien invasion films, and I'm a huge fan of this genre. This article will be going over alien invasions that involve the takeover of the whole world, so I won't be going over films like John Carpenter's The Thing, since that alien only attacked two groups of people.  Aliens also doesn't count, since the films I have seen don't involve them coming to Earth. I did hear that the TV show Alien: Earth is really damn good, but since I haven't seen it yet, this show won't be included in this article.  And I also won't be including War of the Worlds 2025…because that movie is beyond dumb.  Here are five films with the worst alien invasions: 5. The Tunnel Feels Like a Rip - Off of The Blair Witch Project

Image
Credit to The Tunnel (2011) | Rotten Tomatoes The Tunnel was one of my most anticipated horror films I had been wanting to watch for years, ever since I saw the cover when I was a kid. I kept hearing this film was pretty original, and thought it would be cool to give it a watch. I eventually was able to watch it on one day several years ago, and I was left a bit…disappointed.  I kept hearing this film was terrifying, and that the terror in this film was next level crazy. It really felt like I was watching a copycat of The Blair Witch Project, and while the movie felt like it’s own thing for a bit, there was one part that really took me out of the movie toward the third act of the film.  I’ve seen a lot of found footage films, and they all felt like their own movie, and not like they were trying to rip off the film that started the found footage genre with a bang. The Tunnel felt like it was struggling with what it wanted to be toward the ending of the film, and I was le...

Starry Eyes is a Brutal Story of How Far One Would Go for Fame

Image
Credit to Starry Eyes (2014) — Moria (moriareviews.com) Starry Eyes is a horror film that follows the story of an aspiring actress named Sarah who is willing to do whatever it takes to make her dreams come true in the world of Hollywood. Sarah is a good person with a kind heart, that has dreams like many of us do. She is currently working in a fast-food restaurant that she doesn't exactly love, and she is staying with her friends, some of them being quite encouraging, while some are a bit jealous of her ambition. A movie studio digs its claws into Sarah, convincing her to give in to the darkest actions imaginable. Her desire to become famous is so strong, that she no longer cares about the consequences. Her body literally goes through its own reverse metamorphosis, slowly declining into something pure evil. It’s horrible to witness a person with a good soul experience this kind of tragedy, and her journey truly paints a wicked picture of how terrifying Hollywood can actually be. Wh...
