5 Horror Novels that Fans Would Love in Time for Halloween

Halloween is already right around the corner, and I’m beyond excited to celebrate this wonderful month. It’s a time for all horror fans to enjoy celebrating their love for the genre, and we can also show our love for horror novels during this time too!

I’m a massive horror fan of books, and I love all kinds of genres when it comes to horror. Slashers, monsters, psychological terror, I’m a huge fan.

Here are five horror books that should be read in time for Halloween:

5. The God of Endings by Jacqueline Holland

I misjudged this horror novel the first time I found this book. I was expecting a boring and slow build up focused on a single vampire, but this story was so much more than that.

We follow the story of a woman who was forced to become a vampire in the 1800s, and we go back and forth from the past to her present time in the 1980s, as she struggles with her hunger and horrible things that occur throughout her life.

You will feel so bad for a vampire for the first time, because she never wanted to become immortal, and truly sees her vampirism as a curse.

4. One of Us is Dead by Jeneva Rose

This novel features one of the most despicable villains in horror novel history. A group of elite women all love to go to a salon, where they spend any amount of money to look beautiful, and to gossip about anything. While each of these women are hiding secrets of their own, they do not compare to the biggest bitch of the group.

Her name is Olivia, and she the queen of evil. She hides the biggest secrets from the group, is willing to blackmail anybody to get her way, and loves to inflict pain on others, as long as she is happy in the end.

The women decide to finally come up with a plan to exact revenge on Olivia once they discover all of her dark secrets, and wow, it’s a wonderful build up!

3. The Surrogate Mother by Frieda McFadden

Frieda is like a mix between horror and thriller when it comes to her novels. Her latest book was pretty dark, and I couldn’t get over how evil the villain was in this novel. The author herself did give out a content warning about this monster, and wow, this is a damn evil bastard.

A woman named Monica offers to be a surrogate for a couple who is struggling to have a baby. The couple isn’t aware that this young woman is secretly a psychopath, who is determined to take the main character’s husband for herself. She is beyond delusional, and believes her husband will leave his wife for her, knowing that she is carrying his baby.

The manipulation and evil actions Monica does to the wife is insane…you will hate this villain, until the very end of the book.

2. The War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells

I couldn’t believe how disturbing and sad this novel was. I can see that the director for the 2005 film did get a lot of inspiration from this book, the the humanity and devastation that follows once the aliens arrive is so similar.

In the book, we follow the story of a man and his brother from different points of view, as they struggle to survive against the aliens that begin to fall on Earth. The Martians arrive to London, where they begin their destruction of wiping out all humans, using a variety of weapons, including poisonous gas that is killing entire cities.

It’s a pretty brutal read, but man, this book is an excellent Sci — Fi horror.

1. Fear Street: The Beginning Book Collection by R.L. Stine

It’s been a while since I read an awesome horror short story collection. I have always been a big fan of R.L. Stine’s Fear Street novels, I read so many back in my high school days.

These stories are like R — Rated Goosebumps stories, and they are so much fun to read. I loved how ruthless each story was, some of them were disturbing, kind of funny, and the characters really made each story stand out. The villains were pretty creepy too, and I loved how each story was secretly connected in its own way.

These are some fun campy horror stories that any horror fan would love!

Have you read any of these novels? What other horror books would you want me to check out?
