Doctor Who: 'The Parting of the Ways' is One of the Darkest Episodes that Features Multiple Deaths

Doctor Who has continued to surprise me with random dark moments I am not expecting to occur in several episodes. One of the darkest episodes is the finale of the 9th doctor, who is trying to destroy the last of an alien race known as the Daleks, once and for all. They had murdered his people, and he vowed avenge on them once he realized they were still alive.
Unfortunately for the Doctor and his companions, they are stuck on a huge spaceship filled with other survivors who are caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. The Doctor and his team are aware of the sacrifices that must be made, but I wasn’t expecting every single random character to die.
I had already seen this episode years ago, but I somehow forgot about this entire episode. How the hell I forgot about this episode is crazy to me!
I couldn’t believe how dark this episode was.

When the Daleks break into the ship, they show no mercy to anyone on board. Every single person dies, except for the three main characters, the Doctor and his two companions.
Well, one of them dies, but he comes back from the dead. His character cannot die apparently, but I still have no idea why.
I love how the episode showed the Daleks slowly working their way up to the Doctor. They start all the way from the bottom of the ship, and they kill every single person they find. And man…you will feel so bad for these people. One of my favorite dark moments was when the Daleks found the huge group of people that were told to stay quiet, and they would not die.
They were literally the first group of people that the aliens find, and they all die offscreen, as one character listens to the people screaming in fear.
It was a powerful scene that really brought pure dread to this episode.
The character breaks down into tears when she hears the scream, and even she dies offscreen, as the Daleks break a window on the ship, exposing her to outer space. The Doctor hears her die, shock on his face.
It was even more sad that she had accepted her death, but she had also died in fear, because I don’t think she was expecting to get killed like that.
I also loved how we got to see the soldiers who stayed to fight, all fought until the very end. None of them ran away, and they kept on fighting, even when they knew it was pointless. I felt really bad for this random guy who had a thing for this woman, and I was not expecting her to die. He loses his mind, and he goes on a rampage, but even he gets killed.
Then if you think all this death is already bad enough, the Daleks head over to Earth to wipe out entire continents. Yes…that is how insane this episode was.
I was in shock when they reached the Doctor, and he didn’t even have the guts to wipe them all out in the end.

Knowing that the Daleks literally wiped out an entire planet, and killed everyone on the spaceship, the Doctor couldn’t pull the trigger to kill every single alien. He had been working on a device that would destroy everything in sight, including the human race.
He already knew that he easily could have pulled the trigger on this device, because everyone was already DEAD.
But he couldn’t bring himself to do it, because even though he was so angry at how evil these bastards were, he had a human side, and that part of him couldn’t kill them.
It was an amazing dark finale, and I enjoyed how the writers did not give a single damn during this episode.
It was cutthroat and sad, proving that even when you have a hero by your side, sometimes not everyone can be saved.
