‘Together’ is the Body Horror Masterpiece of 2025

I have recently been on a movie marathon this past week in the theaters, and Together is by far the best film I have seen so far this year. I thought the hype behind this movie was going to be overdone. People were calling it the best horror movie of 2025, and I thought it was overhyped, similar to Longlegs last year.

However… I was wrong.

Together is the best horror film I have seen in 2025.

And shit… I cannot believe how INSANE this movie was.

“Together” follows the story of a couple having relationship problems.

Tim and Millie are a couple who are planning to begin a fresh start in their lives. Millie is thrilled about moving to the countryside, while Tim seems distant, not wanting to pursue the same path that his girlfriend wants. They experience quite the awkward moment when Millie proposes in front of their friends and family, but Tim ruins the moment by not acknowledging this special moment.

Millie and Tim have a small argument over this in bed later that night, and their problems are much worse than we thought. The couple reveals they hadn’t slept together in months. Tim has a horrible nightmare about his parents, and we get a time jump to the couple already moving to the countryside.

Millie and Tim begin their new lives together, the two of them pursuing their own career paths. While Millie has a stable job of being a teacher, Tim is a thirty-five-year-old man who is still trying to make it in the music business, and needs to get a ride from his girlfriend to attend his rehearsals with the band.

The couple goes on a hike together in the woods, and things go wrong when a storm occurs, and the couple falls into a hole. There are strange-looking bells surrounding the area, a small hint that something is not right with this place. Tim and Millie both stay the night, starting a fire, and he gives the leftover water to Millie.

Tim decides to drink the water from a strange hole filled with water, and he ignores Millie’s protests, as he drinks the water from the hole.

(I instantly knew something bad was going to happen after this).

Tim reveals a terrifying story to Millie, that he had experienced with his parents.

The reason why Tim became so distant with Millie was the trauma he endured with his parents. When he was a kid, his father went mad for a long time when he smelled something awful in his room. It turned out to be a dead rat that had been cooking in his ceiling from the lightbulb. Poor Tim was faced with another traumatic moment with his parents years later, when he had found his mother smiling at him in his parents’ bedroom, wih his father dead in bed next to her.

Tim tells Millie that he couldn’t believe how his mother didn’t notice the smell, but he knew that he had lost both of his parents that day; one to old age, the other to madness. He believes that his mother couldn’t stand the thought she had lost the love of her life, and she lost her mind.

After having another nightmare, Tim awakens to Millie and his leg stuck together. They pull their legs apart, both of them cringing from the pain. They are able to escape from the cave together, the two of them laughing over their crazy experience.

Tim begins to go through extreme episodes of wanting to be with Millie.

Tim and Millie both become quite frustrated with each other, as Millie questions why Tim is acting so weird with her. He was distant before, but he would suddenly throw himself at her, wanting to kiss her and… absorb her.

Trust me… it’s gonna get worse from here.

The couple invites a friend of Millie’s from the school over for dinner; an older man named Jamie. The couple tells Jamie about the strange hole they fell into, and Jamie reveals that a New Age church used to be there, but it collapsed later on. Tim remarks it sounds like a cult, much to the amusement of Millie and Jamie.

The couple experiences another awkward moment in front of Jamie, but they shrug it off after he leaves. Tim finds himself wanting to kiss Millie, and she freaks out when their lips connect, both of them struggling to pull away for a couple of seconds. She believes he had bit her lip, and she wanders away super pissed off.

The next day, Millie drops off Tim for his rehearsal gig at the train station, and he starts to experience another episode. He abandons his music gear and goes to Millie’s school. She freaks out and runs outside to confront him in the bathroom. Tim tells Millie he needs her, and they sleep together for the first time in months.

But something really bad happens here.

Tim and Millie discover… they can’t pull apart.

When they realize that a kid discovered them together in the bathroom stall, Millie tells Tim they have no choice but to pull apart, no matter how painful it is. Tim and Millie both try to hide the pain they are feeling afterwards, as Jamie comes into the bathroom with confusion, asking Millie what she was doing in the restroom.

Jamie, shockingly, does not fire her, despite knowing that Tim was in the bathroom stall with her. She later goes over to his place to apologize, and she learns that Jamie once had a lover of his own, who passed away. He tells Millie a story based on Greek Mythology, that a Greek God once created people with two heads and eight limbs. He had to separate them, and that is why people search for their other half, the love of their lives.

Millie leaves abruptly when she spots Tim outside spying on her through the window. She quickly leaves, and Tim apologizes to her, but Millie holds onto his hand, signifying that she still loves him.

Tim learns about a couple who went missing in the small town.

As Tim is getting medication for his mystery treatment, he learns about a couple who went missing in the same area. Tim does his own research into the couple at night, and he discovers they had been near the same hole with the weird bells.

Tim is interrupted by Millie, who smashes into a door to try and get near him. Millie doesn’t believe Tim when he tells her this, and she chalks it up to nonsense from Tim. During the same night, the couple experiences pure horror, as they find themselves being slowly drawn together, their arms becoming one.

Tim uses the medication he was given to save both him and Millie, and they take a shitload of pills before they both pass out. Tim wakes up to Millie tying him up on a chair in the kitchen, and she pulls out a tool to cut their arms apart. They go through with the procedure, and it cuts to a hilarious scene between the couple, as they are covered in blood and eating a quick meal.

Millie decides they must go to the hospital to figure out what the hell is going on, and she begs Tim to not go back to the hole. Millie freaks out when she realizes she had left her car keys at Jamie’s place, and she goes over to his house. Tim waits for her to leave, and he goes back to the hole.

The couple discover a terrifying truth about the hole they had fallen into.

This is one of the best parts of the film, as we watch Millie and Tim both figure out the truth on their own journeys. Millie arrives to Jamie’s place and finds footage playing on a small television, revealing Jamie with his partner, entering the church, straight to the hole with the water.

Jamie scares Millie by telling her that him and his partner are now in one body, and they are in eternal bliss. He cuts Millie’s arm for her to complete the fusion process with Tim. Millie runs away from Jamie, as his body goes back and forth between the two men in the same body.

Tim finds the missing couple inside of the hole, and their fusion wasn’t so lucky. They were stuck together, resembling some kind of monster, as they beg for Tim to help them. Tim escapes from the hole and he reunites with a terrified Millie. Tim tells her that in order to avoid the fusion, he must end his life. Millie ends up passing out from the blood loss, and Tim begs Millie to return to him.

Tim and Mille agree to complete the fusion, and become one.

Tim saves Millie’s life by stopping the bleeding by fusing part of his body with hers. Tim tells Millie that he loves her, and she tells him she never stopped loving him. They agree to merge into one body, and we get one of the craziest… batshit insane horror movie endings.

They remove their clothes and make out, as their bodies slowly become one. It was quite… the sight …to see their bodies merge. It looked like something out a freaking nightmare.

The movie ends with Millie’s parents coming over on Sunday, and when they ring a bell similar to the one Jamie had…

…Millie and Tim, now in the same body, answer the door.

Now… isn’t that a crazy way to end a horror movie???

I do have my own theory as to why the missing couple’s fusion didn’t go well. From what Jamie told Millie, the couple must love each other in order for the fusion to work. I think the missing couple didn’t love each other, and that is why they turned into a full-on monster.

Millie and Tim’s fusion worked, because their love was genuine.

“Together” is the best and most romantic horror movie of 2025…and I know how crazy that sounds, but I guess fusing with your partner is the ultimate test to determine your love for each other.

Thank you for reading!
