'Pretty Kitty' is One of the Most Disturbing Horror Animations I Have Ever Seen

I don’t normally talk about short horror animations from YouTube, but wow, this one definitely deserves to be discussed. I recently watched one of the best animations called ‘Pretty Kitty.’ I had seen the animation from a YouTuber who creates collages of horror shorts to watch on his channel.

Pretty Kitty is quite a short cartoon, but the message that is delivered from this story is powerful and a really sad one. The story follows a young man who is sad that the amusement park he used to work for is now being shut down for good. After a horrible accident with a ride, and the owner getting taken to court over the deaths, it’s not surprising that the park led to a permanent shutdown.

The young man was the mascot of the amusement park, and he seems distraught over the thought of giving up a career he loved. From the very beginning, we can see that the costume he wore to advertise Pretty Kitty has already undergone multiple stitches, implying that he keeps on fixing up the costume whenever it falls apart.

We already know right off the bat that he appears to hold an unhealthy obsession with the costume, and we see actual prove in the beginning of the animation. While he is contemplating the thought of giving up the costume for good, he notices that the top of the head to the costume is falling apart. He proceeds to try and fix up the head, and freaks out when the actual kitty appears to him from out of nowhere.

Side note: The kitty is actually him, and he is literally hearing his own voice through the costume.

The kitty asks the young man if he is absolutely sure he wants to give up this life, since he absolutely loved it. Deep down, he loved the thought of getting so much attention and love from people, and he found himself craving it over and over in the costume.

We get fantastic animation from the young man’s head, and we witness just how unhinged he actually is. Poor dude appears to have some sort of mental illness, explaining why he became so obsessed with the costume. During the insanity of his brain, he ends up fighting back against the kitty, ripping off its head. The kitty tells him that he should give in, and accept the kitty, because he doesn’t think the young man is ready to give him up.

The young man sees himself start to break apart, showing the kitty emerging. This was like a sick metaphor, revealing that he can’t give up the kitty for good. Then during the madness, the young man suddenly picks up a sewing needle, stabbing it into his wrist.

I freaked out over that scene, but what followed made my jaw drop.

We cut to a time jump, of the young man arriving to an office space for his new job. He is leaking blood, and my confusion intensified, wondering what the hell he had done to himself. His new boss freaks out when she sees his arrival, and we finally get a good and disturbing look at the carnage.

The young man had stitched the costume into his skin.

He says with a cheery tone, that he is ready to begin his first day at work, now fully embracing his cat persona.

Now that is insane body horror.

I can’t believe I haven’t seen the horror genre do a crazy idea like this before. The thought of a costume being etched into your skin is terrifying, and I can’t believe how far gone that dude was at the end of the animation.

This animation is the perfect treat for horror fans, but be warned, this story is quite disturbing.
