Quarantine 2: Terminal is a Great Gore Fest with an Effective Ending

I'm sure that you may be wondering why I'm not talking about the first Quarantine film. The first film is considered to be a remake, and the original film is called REC. I have watched both films, and I was shocked to see how similar both films are. The remake literally ripped off so many scenes from the original, including the iconic ending.

The only thing that the remake didn't rip off was the reveal of the virus, so at least I can give the remake credit for that. Since the remake is way too similar to the original, I'd rather talk about the original in a future article.

However, when it comes to the sequel of Quarantine, it remains a standalone project. I had seen this film a long time ago, and I forgotten about a lot of scenes. This film can become a bit forgettable when it comes to the bad acting, but the gore and the ending are the reason to come back to this film.

The sequel follows the story of a group of passengers from a plane who are caught

in a dangerous quarantine.

A plane is forced to land in an isolated terminal when they discover that someone is infected on board. People are attacked and become infected, leading to the remaining survivors freaking out over their situation. Jenny, one of the passengers, desperately tries to keep the group together.

The group discover that one of the passengers named Henry, had brought infected animals on board with the virus. He was not aware of this, and the crew tries their best to avoid getting bitten by the infected rats. This obviously does not go well, and the crew struggles to survive in the terminal. The area is then placed under quarantine, scaring the group.

At some point, soldiers are sent inside of the terminal to try and control the infection, but everything goes wrong once several infected go on a killing spree. The crew then starts to get picked off one by one, leaving two survivors standing toward the end of the film.

I was so impressed with how gory the kills were. I guess in this film, the budget went to the practical effects, and I would totally take that any day over bad acting in a horror movie. Some of the kills were so gnarly to watch, like in one scene where Jenny was forced to beat to death one guy that she cared about in the group.

Even my family was cringing from the gore in this film. It was definitely one of the highlights of the film!

The film ends with an eerie ending that is executed very well.

A kid named George and Jenny are the only survivors left alive. They find a way out, and Jenny helps to comfort George from his fear, and gives him night vision goggles. They must crawl through a dark tunnel like space to escape the terminal, for a chance of survival.

While George and Jenny are crawling through, we see everything from the point of view of George. He looks back, confused with why Jenny is struggling to get through the tunnel. Blood starts to drip from her mouth, and she calmy tells George that she is infected. George starts to cry, pleading to her that they are both going to make it out.

Jenny tells George to not give up, and she willingly goes along with his hope of the two of them making it out alive. I love how we see everything through the night vision goggles. Even though it does look kind of weird, (probably due to the budget), it really made this scene stand out. It looked wrong, and watching everything in a black and white lenses was so great, knowing the eerie fate that is now awaiting Jenny.

George escapes through the tunnel, slipping through the bars easily to daylight. When he looks back and calls for Jenny, she attempts to attack him, now fully infected. George leaves in shock, and wanders away from the area, being the only one to escape the quarantine. The film ends with a cat that is now infected with the virus, now heading toward the city.

This film would definitely be considered a B horror movie. The acting wasn't the best, but everything else really stood out in the film for me. The story was pretty fast paced when it came to the chaos, and that ending is one of my favorites in horror. The film did not hesitate to kill off the main character, making it a creepy and memorable ending!
