Horror Movies I'm Excited to Watch in 2026

2026 looks like it’s going to be a special kind of year for horror. We are starting off so strong in January already, and while I am looking forward to watching so many horror movies this year, there are seven films that I’m the most excited for!
We are getting zombies, demons, monsters, possessions, witches, and even werewolves! We are literally getting a bunch of the old school horror monsters this year, and I’m freaking excited for the stories we are about to see in the year of 2026!
8. Return to Silent Hill
I’m not exactly sure how to feel about this movie yet. This is the third film in the Silent Hill movie franchise, and it was directed by the first dude who made the great (only) film of the Silent Hill franchise. This movie is going to be based on the Silent Hill 2 video game, and it has already caused a lot of backlash from fans.
It appears that there have been too many changes, so I’m hoping that the movie does stick to the same formula of the videogame. The story of the sequel is a total masterpiece, and it would be a huge shame if it were ruined for fans of the Silent Hill franchise.
7. The Exorcist: Deceiver

I was not thrilled to learn that the reboot to the Exorcist was one of the worst reboots ever done in horror. Then I was more than thrilled to learn that Mike Flanagan was going to take over the sequel. Now I’m so excited for the new Exorcist film, and I know that Flanagan is going to give us an excellent horror film!
I’m curious to know what kind of vision we are going to get from Flanagan for the Exorcist!
The movie will be released on March 13th, 2026!
6. The Bride

This movie could either be a hit or a miss. I’m really hoping for the latter, because the aesthetic to this movie looks so damn great! We are getting a completely new take on the Bride of Frankenstein, with the couple now living the gangster life as they embrace their new lives as creatures.
It’s such an original concept, and I hope this movie is going to blow me away. We also have Christian Bale making a return to horror as Frankenstein, I’m so excited for this one when it comes out!
The movie will be released on March 6th, 2026!
5. Evil Dead Burn
The Evil Dead franchise has been going strong so far, and I’m really looking forward to the next entry. The last Evil Dead film was so tragic, focusing on a family this time around, and it was effective with every single loss the family endured.
It’s interesting how the movies seem to be focusing on three different books that are the portals to Hell, and I’m curious what kind of horror we are going to get for the next film!
The movie will be released on July 24th, 2026!
4. Iron Lung

I’m so shocked that we are getting a film on Iron Lung. This is another video game adaptation, and it’s crazy that a popular YouTuber was the one to direct and star in the film. He has already created several projects already, so I’m curious to see his work in horror now!
Hopefully it will be a good movie, because Iron Lung seems like a challenging project to make into a live action film! However, I think this dude definitely did a great job!
The movie will be released on January 30th, 2026!
3. The Mummy Remake
This is one of my most anticipated horror movies for 2026! This was a huge surprise for me; I had no idea there was a remake being worked on for The Mummy! I was even more surprised when I learned that the remake was directed by the same dude who made Evil Dead Rise!
It’s going to be a Rated — R film too, so for the first time, we could be getting a bloody version of The Mummy!
I know this movie is going to a be masterpiece!
The movie will be released on April 17th, 2026!
2. Werwulf
This is another anticipated horror movie of the year for me. We are now getting a werewolf movie, from the same guy who made Nosferatu, that was one of the best remakes released in 2024! The movie is coming out on Christmas day, and I think this could be another favorite of mine this year!
This director knows how to create old school horror tales, and I’m excited to see his new vision with a werewolf this time!
The movie will be released on December 25th, 2026!
- 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple
28 Days Later is one of the few reboots that brought a brand-new vision to the franchise, that is strongly working in its favor. We are now following the same main character, who is trying to get used to his new world of the dead. He meets a group of psychos in the sequel, now he is going to be traveling with them, and he will possibly start learning about the bad people that exist in his new world.
I can’t wait to watch the new addition to the franchise in just twelve days!
The movie will be released on January 16th, 2026!
What horror movie are you excited for in 2026?
