Issac Night is Wednesday's Best Villain
I finally got to finish Wednesday season 2, and I loved the new villain that was introduced in this season! Issac Night was the new villain for the Addam's family, and he was hands down the best foe yet! I wasn't expecting his backstory to be so fascinating, and his character was written to PERFECT Tim Burton fashion.
I never thought Tim Burton would ever go back to his old ways when it comes to his evil villains, and we finally got another great one, similar to the villains from his old films from the past! What I love about the Wednesday television show, is that it feels like you're watching two of the Beetlejuice films, combined with animation, that is translated into live action.
Tim Burton is a master of his craft when it comes to weird horror, and he pulled it off somehow through a television show, which I never thought he would ever attempt during his career! The weirdness of the show and the characters is what keeps me watching, and the plots are always so dark when it comes to Wednesday!
Issac Night was executed so well for the television show, and I love how Tim Burton also told his backstory through stop motion, another craft that I really missed from Burton as well!
Night is one of the most insane villains so far in Burton's horror stories, and damn, he is an absolute menace!
1. He killed a lot of people...by eating their brains.
Issac had been killed during an experiment gone wrong, after the main couple of the Addam's family stopped him. He was trying to use Gomez's powers to cure his sister's monster ability, and Morticia stops him by slicing off his hand. The experiment goes wrong, and the machine explodes, killing Issac. He is brought back from the dead through Pugsley, the son of the Addam's couple. He is now a zombie, and eats multiple people to regenerate back into his human form.
He has the most kills so far in the television show, and I struggled to watch him use his tongue to slurp up the brains he was eating! He showed no remorse or mercy to anyone he killed.
2. We finally get an origin story to Thing.
Thing is the assistant of the Addam's family, a hand that is literally alive. It turned out that Thing belonged to Issac, and he stitches Thing back onto his arm, and it turns out that his missing hand had powers, and this is when Issac truly becomes the most powerful foe against the Addam's family. His missing hand gave him the ability of telekinesis, and he uses his powers to attempt the murder of Wednesday twice.
And he also tried to kill Pugsley. This guy was willing to kill the children of the Addam's couple for revenge. He truly did not give a single damn.
3. His motivation to go after the Addam's family was pretty sad.
Issac Night wanted to save his sister, by using the powers of either Gomez or his son to cure his sister of her powers of transforming into a monster. He truly cared about her, (I'm not exactly sure how to view their sibling bond, because they were a bit too close in some parts), and he was willing to do whatever it takes. He was a mad scientist that had created a machine to help her, but he needed Gomez or the son to make sure the experiment would work. Once he reunites with her years later, he meets the son of his sister, named Tyler. He was born with her monster ability, and Issac is told by his sister to cure her son instead. The fact that Issac did not hesitate to listen to her was a kind of sweet, but also so sad at the same time.
Once she gets killed in the final episode, Issac goes on a rage, blaming the Addam's family for the death of his sister. I was a little surprised that he didn't exactly care about Tyler. He was his nephew after all, but I think it had to do with his sister marrying a human.
It's a massive shame that Issac was killed in the finale. Fans like myself are hoping that he makes a return to the series. I felt that Night was such a huge threat to the Addam's family, he definitely deserves a comeback!
