Smiling Friends is like an R - Rated Version of Gumball

I have recently been watching Smiling Friends, and it's one of the most hilarious shows I have seen in animation. Smiling Friends follows the story of two characters named Charlie and Pim, who are working for a company known as Smiling Friends. They are in charge of putting a smile on people's faces, and the duo goes through so much insanity just to get their clients to smile.

Despite this creative concept, the other characters around the two main ones are also significant to the story. Their own boss is pretty insane, and they also have two other employees named Glep and Alan who are important to the story of the show. The characters goes through the most random scenarios, while we are also exposed to real life conversations that sound way too raw to listen to. The show is a perfect blend of the random stuff in an animation show, while we are introduced to real life events that I'm sure many of us have experienced.

For example, there is one episode completely dedicated to the characters going on a trip to Brazil, only for Pim to realize that he never booked a hotel for them to stay in. During the whole episode, the characters start arguing amongst themselves, as they try to figure out how to solve their problem, when they learn that they picked the worst weekend to head to Brazil. It was hilarious to watch the main cast of characters have such a realistic conversation, while calling their boss on the phone to ask for help.

How the writers were able to add in real life stuff in a show like this is totally genius.

I have lost count how many times I have either died from laughter, or when I got slightly uncomfortable during such a raw conversation between the characters. One of my favorite conversations that had taken place was when Pim was asking Charlie why he never wanted to do anything with them anymore. Charlie had apparently become a bit of a jerk during the first season, not wanting any part of his own job, or even spending time with his own friends.

Then we go straight to utter chaos when Charlie suddenly gets killed while chopping off a Christmas tree for the Smiling Friends company, and he is sent straight to Hell. Charlie learns that the Devil hasn't smiled in forever, and he offers to help him, as he travels through Hell to meet up with Satan. The writers truly know how to combine real life with animation, and it's one of their best episodes from season 1!

I haven't gotten the chance to watch season 2 yet, but I have heard that the second season was pretty good too! I did watch the first episode to the third season for the hell of it, and once again, I could not stop laughing. The episode threw in real life events, while we got so many stupid moments. I also love how the animation is so freaking random, kind of like how the Gumball show was like too. The animation in Smiling Friends is filled with all kinds of different animations, and even though it can be so weird to watch, the dialogue really shows all the weird characters we get introduced to!

This show sometimes feels like I'm watching a horror television show too, the ideas from these writers are so batshit insane, that always leaves me dying of laughter.

I can't think of a single show that has done that for me, and for that reason, Smiling Friends is considered one of the best animations shows ever made!
