Twin Peaks is a Unique Crime Masterpiece of Mystery and Twists

I have finally finished the first season to Twin Peaks, and I have to admit, I haven’t been this addicted to a TV show like this in a long time. The characters, the plot, the multiple betrayals along with twists and turns that I never see coming, including a possible supernatural twist…this season is a masterpiece.

This is also one of the few shows that leaves behind so many unanswered questions with just one season, and the execution is amazing. I finally understand why Twin Peaks is considered to be one of the most popular crime shows ever created. David Lynch and Mark Frost were the perfect duo for this show, along with the cast that each played their parts perfectly well.

I love how the season focused on one murder case, leaving more questions than answers for the viewers. Laura Palmer was discovered dead in the first episode, and this brutal murder leads to the introduction of an FBI agent, named Dale Cooper, who is determined to save her murder.

He teams up with the police department, and they all work together to solve her murder, discovering so many unexplained mysteries, along with many people that Laura was connected to. Laura apparently led a double life that she kept hidden from her friends and family. What’s so impressive is that even though her character is dead, the writers make her character feel real, like she is still alive in the show somehow.

Despite all of the evil taking place in the show, Laura’s death leaves a huge impact on Twin Peaks, and we get a glimpse of the humanity within each of the characters.

Like Dale Cooper tells one of his FBI sidekicks that offers to study Laura Palmer’s body before the funeral, everyone missed Laura in some way, and Cooper was willing to respect their decision to have her funeral. Episode 4 was one of the saddest episodes, when we practically see the main people in the town come to pay their respects at the funeral.

This episode perfectly summed up the love of the town, and that they all cared about Laura, and wanted to be there for her. I loved how Dale Cooper was so determined to solve her murder. He instantly notices the impact her death has on everyone in Twin Peaks, and he promises to solve her murder. The only thing that I beyond confused with, is the possible supernatural twist in the show.

Dale Cooper dreams about a red room, and interacts with a man in a red suit, including a woman that looks like Laura Palmer. They all speak backwards to him, and then things only get odder from there. David Lynch definitely pulled off the dreamlike sequence with this moment, because I truly have never been so confused in my entire life.

I want to know so badly why Dale Cooper was chosen for whatever is happening in Twin Peaks…if there is a possible supernatural connection. Why was Dale chosen?

That is hands down the biggest question I have, even though I’m still wondering who the hell killed Laura. The secrets of the town are honestly so confusing, exhausting, and insane. And I have never seen a show where everyone is practically CHEATING on each other. Like seriously, is 90% of the town bored, and they decided to add some spice into their lives by hooking up with everyone?

Sorry about that random topic, but that threw me off so bad.

I’m going to binge season 2 of Twin Peaks now…and I have heard that this season was a bit mixed with many fans. I’m going to share my opinions once I finish the next season!
