5 Darkest Disney Villain Deaths

To this day, it surprises me how Disney doesn’t give a damn about showing off such violent deaths for their villains. I wouldn’t doubt some of these deaths traumatized a lot of children over the years, but I think that it’s ballsy that Disney was willing to animate disturbing endings for their main villains.
They really wanted to show what happens to assholes who crave power or want to hurt others, and the consequences of their actions can be quite deadly. I have seen so many Disney movies, and I have selected five of my own that I think are the worst deaths.
I’m also going to explain what evil actions led to their deaths, to sort of say, that yes, they 100% deserved what was coming to them!
5. Mother Gothel becomes old and falls off a tower. (Tangled)

Mother Gothel is one of the most despicable villains in Disney. She never wanted to grow old, and used a special magical flower to ensure she would stay young forever. Once the flower is used to save the queen’s life, she becomes desperate, and goes after the baby the queen gives birth to, because she was born with the powers of the flower.
She raises Rapunzel as her own in a tower, telling her stories about how dangerous the outside world is. She surprisingly never treated Rapunzel like crap, and actually treated her with kindness. I think she did this on purpose, so that she would never leave her. Rapunzel eventually does leave the tower, and Mother Gothel eventually finds her, continuing to use manipulation to trick her into coming back home.
Eugene, her love interest, comes back to the tower to save her, only to be stabbed in the back by Mother Gothel, who dies from blood loss. However, before his death, he decides to cut off Rapunzel’s hair, to stop Mother Gothel’s evil reign for good. She instantly becomes old, and goes into a full on panic attack. She falls out of the tower, and withers away to dust before she hits the ground.
Now that is what we call karma.
4. Clayton accidentally hangs himself while attempting to kill the main character. (Tarzan)

Clayton had come to the island where Tarzan lived, to kill and collect gorillas, to sell and make a profit from. Tarzan viewed the gorillas as family, since they were willing to raise him as their own, despite being a human. He goes into battle with Clayton, to protect his family from further harm at the hands of Clayton.
Clayton and Tarzan battle head to head, and during the fight, Clayton becomes full of rage, not noticing that a vine was getting wrapped around his neck. Tarzan is the only one who lands on the ground, and we get a glimpse from the storm, revealing a disturbing image. Clayton had accidentally hung himself, and we see the shadow of his body hanging up in the vines.
This death scene was so effective, and I can’t believe that Disney was willing to show that death to all audiences.
Those poor kids.
3. Claude Frollo burns to death (The Hunchback of Notre Dame)

Claude Frollo deserves the title of the vilest villain in Disney history. He raises a baby that he almost killed for being the child of gypsies, and he manipulates that child for years until he reaches adulthood. Quasimodo, the child, meets a young woman named Esmeralda, who becomes his friend. Frollo becomes obsessed with her, and even gets creepy with her during one scene that I can’t believe was put in a Disney movie.
Esmeralda escapes from Frollo with the help of Quasimodo, that leads to Frollo burning down his city to get to her, while killing people at the same time. We also get a villain song about his desire for this woman, that comes off even more disturbing than his creepy scene with her. He attempts to burn her alive after capturing her again, for rejecting him. She is saved by Quasimodo once again, and Frollo goes into battle with him. Claude Frollo falls to his death from the cathedral during the fight, and he falls into a literal pit of fire, a fitting end for his evil ass.
I loved how his death was like a metaphor for his character going straight to hell. Dude 100% deserved his death.
2. Dr. Facilier is dragged to hell. Literally. (The Princess and the Frog)

Dr. Facilier is a crafty villain that practices in voodoo magic to screw people over. He delights in bringing harm to others, while promising to give up innocent souls to the evil spirits that he worships. His lack of keeping his end of the bargain eventually catches up to him when he is finally defeated by someone that became one of his victims.
Tiana, who had become a frog after kissing the prince, she ends up getting hold of his talisman that protects him, and she smashes his amulet, destroying his pact with the spirits. Since he failed to seal his deal with the spirits, he is dragged to his doom, straight to hell.
We get a glimpse of his screaming face on a tombstone, after he is dragged to his eternal torment.
That is one of the most brutal ways to kill off a villain in Disney. I always thought his death was way too disturbing for the kids, like come on, we literally see this dude get dragged to Hell!
1. Scar gets eaten alive by hyenas. (The Lion King)
Scar was another villain that was pure evil like Claude Frollo. His desire for his brother’s throne was so great, that he was willing to murder him to get what he wanted. He convinces his nephew to run away from the kingdom for good, and when he eventually returns, Scar has completely taken over the kingdom, ruling with an iron fist.
His nephew gets into battle with Scar, and wins the fight. He decides to spare his uncle, and Scar immediately makes the mistake of putting the blame on his hyena army. The hyenas get pissed off at this accusation, and they decide to punish Scar by eating him alive as he screams in fear and pain.
That is a grisly death, and I love the shadows of the hyenas jumping on his body as they rip him apart.
Fun fact, Gaston from Beauty and the Beast was supposed to get Scar’s death. I believe he was supposed to get ripped apart by wolves. I’m curious why his death was changed up, but I’m planning to write about Gaston sometime in the future, so I’ll save that topic for another day.
Which villain do you think got the worse death in Disney?
