Helena Harper is the Most Annoying Resident Evil Sidekick
While I don't understand to this day why fans weren't fond of Resident Evil 6, because I personally loved this game, there is one thing that I do agree with fans on. One sidekick that Leon Kennedy is stuck with during Resident Evil 6, is Helena Harper, a woman that is out for revenge.
The thing that pissed me off the most about her character was the lack of information that she would give to Leon. I played this game with a family member, and I was stuck playing Helena, and while I never care about the characters I play as coop local, I couldn't stand her character. For the first half of the game, she refuses to tell Leon why she is she is determined to reach a random woman, that turns out to be her sister. She had gone through experimentation by one of the main Resident Evil villains known as Simmons, and for some strange reason, she never bothered to tell Leon about any of this information.
Every single time Leon questioned her character, she kept giving him the same line:
"I'll tell you later."
How Leon mustered so much patience with Helena was absolute insanity. I would have immediately confronted her about what the hell was going on, because in a situation that involves the dead literally hunting you down in a huge city, I would want to know why we were being forced to look for someone during a situation like this.
And even when we got all of the information that we needed in the end from Helena, I still couldn't bring myself to feel bad for her when she finally got her revenge on Simmons. Knowing that she had withheld some vital information from us in the beginning of the campaign made me so untrustworthy of her character, and I was getting worried about Leon falling for her. Even though I don't get why he has a thing for Ada, I'd rather he got with her. And yes, Ada is pretty mysterious herself, but at least Ada is cool in her own way, despite her character being a bit of an asshole.
What did you Resident Evil fans think of Helena's character?
