Obsession is Now My New Obsession
Credit to Obsession Review: A Confident Crowd-Pleaser With A Killer Lead Performance
I have seen the recent trailer to the one of the most anticipated horror movies among horror fans. Obsession has captured my attention sometime this year when I watched the first teaser trailer. We only knew that some random young dude was calling customer service, asking if there was any way to undo a wish. The man on the other line assures him that undoing a wish is impossible, and this random guy appears quite concerned over this realization.
This concept immediately caught my attention, because it’s pretty rare to see a horror movie like this. Or a good horror movie with this concept, because from the ones I had seen in the past, none of these films were able to get this concept right.
Now it appears that one finally did.
From the new trailer that we horror fans have been introduced to; it looks like it’s going to be a wild ride.
This young man has a major crush on this beautiful woman, and he chickens out with asking her out on a date. While he is berating himself for messing up, he decides to pull out a strange looking object. He makes a wish about this woman falling in love with him, and he breaks it in half.
He looks up to see that the woman has suddenly appeared back to car, and is now looking at him in a very creepy way.
We then get random scenes of them together, the man’s wish taking effect.
But it doesn’t seem like what the guy wanted.
His now girlfriend stares at him while he is watching television, she is building shrines of their love in the middle of the night, she spies on him while he is making a phone call, and she makes a get together with his friends super awkward, as she expresses her love for him.
Then we quick moments of things getting even worse, as the girl of his dreams appears to go on a killing spree.
The young man is left in a state of shock in multiple scenes, or complete fear as he struggles to comprehend what his wish has led to.
It’s a brilliant concept, and I’m excited to watch this movie when it releases on May 15th, 2026.
I’m so jealous of the people who got to watch it during early screenings through movie festivals. Apparently, many fans have claimed this movie was amazing, and I’m happy to hear that the hype to this movie was indeed correct!
The one thing I want to know is how the wish stick works.
This wishing stick has a slogan, or it could even be the name of the stick, which is:
“Spark the middle and break it in half.”
Is it a black magic thing that the world is already familiar with? Did the main character go to great lengths to get his hands on a wish stick? Or is it like something that you buy from your local store?
Even if this question doesn’t get answered, I’m sure this movie is going to deliver on the disturbing factor, along with moments of extreme gore!
I’m both excited and scared to see which people are going to get killed at the hands of his now psycho girlfriend.
Another thing that many people have claimed, is that the movie scared the crap out of them so bad, that now some of them are happy they are single.
Is this a new concept in horror that will start to scare me?
I guess I will find out when this movie is released!
