Silent Hill 4: The Room is in Desperate Need of a Remake

Silent Hill 4 has always been seen as the most underrated game of the Silent Hill franchise, when it comes to the original first four games that gained a huge fanbase. This entry is known for daring to do something different, by having the main character been trapped within his own apartment, his home no longer being a safe haven. We follow a shy guy named Henry Townsend, who is confused with why he one days wakes up to find that his room is chained up on the inside, and he is not able to leave his room.

The only way for Henry to step 'outside,' is to enter a hole that suddenly appears in his bathroom. Whenever he enters this hole, he is teleported to another world, where he meets multiple characters, who are ruthlessly killed by an unknown killer. Upon returning to the world, he learns that if you die in this other world, you will also die in the real world. He becomes determined to figure out who is behind the killings, only to realize that a serial killer is terrorizing these people...who has been dead for a long time. So how did this killer return back from the dead to continue his killing spree?

This game already has a great storyline, but there are a couple of flaws within this game.

The gameplay can be pretty bad at times, and it can make the memories super hard to beat, and many fans complained about this aspect of the game, but at least the storyline kept gamers on their toes.

Another complaint was Henry's character, because he really didn't feel like a character. He was pretty boring compared to other Silent Hill protagonists, and I think he's just as bad as Alex Shepard from Silent Hill Homecoming, and that's because Alex pissed me off to another level. However, there could be two reasons why Henry's character was written in such a way.

Henry could have been written through the perspective of the player. It would explain his odd reactions to all the situations happening around him, or his lack of a reaction during the story.

Or perhaps Henry isn't the main character at all. Perhaps this is through the perspective of Walter Sullivan, the serial killer/villain in the game. I think Henry is viewed as the witness of Walter's crimes, as he is struggling to save everyone that he comes across in the game.

This game really needs a remake, because the flaws are only minor, and I guarantee that fans would be so happy to return to this game.

Silent Hill 4 is considered to be one of the best Silent Hill stories in the franchise, and I hope that we will one day return to this great game.
