The Darkest Moment of The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead is one of the best zombie shows that depicted many dark scenes throughout the entire show. A show that focuses on the survival of the main group as they go against both humans and the dead doesn't exactly mean a walk in the park. One scene in season 4 that stayed with me for a long time was two deaths that were quite unexpected. A woman named Carol was traveling with five people when their home had been destroyed by one of their enemies. Carol had been unfortunately kicked out of the group for killing two innocent people to protect everyone, and she reunited with a man named Tyreese, who had been traveling with three children.
One of them was a baby, and the other two were two girls named Lizzie and Mika that Carol had developed a motherly bond with before she was kicked out of the group. The group decides to work together to survive, and they stay in a cabin to claim as their new home. This instantly goes wrong when Carol realizes that something is wrong with the oldest sister, Lizzie.
Lizzie believes that the dead are still aware, and she starts to play with them, calling them her friends. Carol freaks out over Lizzie's mental state, and tries to help her get past her strange views with the dead. This doesn't go well, and Lizzie makes the insane decision to murder Mika, to show Carol and Tyreese that coming back as a dead person doesn't exactly mean death.
Carol and Tyreese make the most difficult decision, realizing that they have to kill Lizzie, so that she won't ever hurt anyone ever again. Carol puts down Lizzie, and buries her by the cabin with her sister, as she leaves with a broken heart, losing two children that she had cared about.
It's one of the darkest episodes of the entire series. It's tragic how a little girl fully lost her mind, choosing to kill her own sister to make people believe her fantasy of the dead not being dangerous.
It's a great episode, and one of the most memorable I have seen in the show.
