Why the Vought Rising Prequel is a Good Idea for The Boys

While I am against spinoffs in Hollywood, because I see it as either a cash grab or writers are running out of ideas, I'm completely fine with prequels. Having a before story is always so fun to watch, because we are able to get a glimpse into the past, and how so many events transpired in the future. The prequel to The Boys, Vought Rising, is a damn good idea for this franchise.
And it's even better that Soldier Boy is going to be one of the lead stars.
Soldier Boy's character is a bit of an asshole in The Boys, and dude doesn't appear to give a damn about anyone but himself. He did go through the trauma of his old team known as Payback, selling him out to people to become experimented on, but I think his team's actions were justified, because he didn't appear to treat his own group the best.
Soldier Boy also didn't hesitate to switch sides from Butcher to Homelander, even though he wanted Homelander dead back in season 3. I wouldn't doubt that Butcher's betrayal reminded Soldier Boy of his own past, when his own team did the same to him. Again, I felt that Soldier Boy deserved this outcome. Dude isn't exactly a true hero, and while he isn't as evil as Homelander, his actions have mostly been pretty bad. He literally tried to kill Homelander's son in season 3, so it makes sense why Butcher was willing to throw this guy under the bus. I know that Ryan is considered to be dangerous, but man, he is just a kid, who is pretty confused with what side he wants to be on during the supe war.
It's also insane that he is now willing to work with Homelander, knowing how evil and dangerous he actually is. Soldier Boy only wants to maintain the superhero legacy, and he is willing to work with a bunch of monsters among the Seven to keep that dream a reality.
The reason Vought Rising is a good idea, is that we can hopefully see how Soldier Boy turned into an asshole.
The show is going to be taking place in the 1950s, and it will feature other superheroes who had been created alongside Soldier Boy. These superheroes were considered to be the most powerful ones, and also don't age. Stormfront will also be returning to the prequel, a past superhero who had been killed by Homelander's son. Soldier Boy appeared to know Stormfront pretty well, which could be a bad thing, since Homelander did have a relationship with her.
Fans also think that Soldier Boy and Stormfront are secretly Homelander's parents...so if the prequel or The Boys confirms this theory...this will truly be a disturbing twist.
It's bad enough already that Soldier Boy most likely had his own relationship with her, but man, whichever route the show will go, it's definitely going to be messed up.
I would also like to know if the other superheroes appearing in this show are going to be alive.
We are getting confirmed three new superheroes, such as:
- Private Angel
- Torpedo
- Bombsight
From the research I have done, it appears that Torpedo and Bombsight are going to be in a relationship, which is pretty risky back in the 1950s. Soldier Boy gets a completely different look, resembling more of a hero that the public would indeed come to love, kind of like Homelander. I have no idea what sort of role Private Angel is going to have in the prequel, but I can't wait to find out!
I'm excited for the Vought Rising series, and I can't wait to see how Soldier Boy goes from a hero to a monster.
