I'm Happy Dougie's Family Got a Happy Ending in Twin Peaks
Dougie Jones was another doppelganger or a tulpa that was created by Mr. C, to either continue his reign of corruption, or to throw off the scent of the Black Lodge. Dale Cooper is able to escape from the Red Room, and he is teleported to the location of Dougie Jones, and he takes his place. Dale Cooper becomes the new Dougie, and his mind resorts to a childlike state, most likely due to the traumatic effects of being in the Red Room for 25 years straight.
Even though Dougie Jones was a total asshole, he had a very good family. His wife, Janey, and his son, Sonny Jim, were really good people, who unfortunately were stuck with a lot of issues, due to the bad decisions of Dougie. Somehow, Dale is able to turn things around for his new family, providing them with a better life, and even makes new friends with two dangerous men, including the insurance company that Dougie worked for.
How Dale was able to manage all this was so impressive, and he was able to make his family happy.
Once Dale's memory eventually returns, he tells his family that he must leave, and go back to Twin Peaks to confront Mr. C, his evil doppelganger. What's crazy is that Janey realizes that Dale is not Dougie, but she tells him that she doesn't care, because he truly made her and Sonny Jim happy.
Before Dale Cooper can set out on his final journey to save Laura Palmer, he asks the Red Room to do him a favor. He offers up a piece of his hair, and they are able to create a doppelganger version of Dale Cooper, to go and live with Janey and Sonny Jim. They embrace the new Dale Cooper, as this version of Dale says "Home."
Even though it's not the real Dougie or Dale Cooper, I was so glad to see Janey and Sonny get their happy ending. They never deserved to be pulled into the schemes of Mr. C, so it was awesome to see some people be able to escape from his plans.
This wonderful family deserved their happy ending, and now both of them will live happily with a different version of Dale Cooper, but at least he will look after them like his own.
