Pete Did Not Deserve His Fate in Twin Peaks

Pete's death shocked the hell out of me the first time he died at the end of season 2. Pete was a good soul who was pulled into the dangerous schemes of his wife, her lovers, including her own brother. Pete was a good person who surprisingly stayed pure, despite all the bad stuff his family was throwing him into. Pete was also the one who found the dead body of Laura Palmer, so he was the one who truly started off the entire investigation into the death of this young girl.

Then during season 2, Pete went through his own journey, as he found himself trying to survive the crazy schemes orchestrated by his wife and brother-in-law. They are able to get away with so much, to the point where the three of them are spared from further dangers. However, one man that worked with the trio had planted a device for them to solve. The trio eventually are able to solve this strange puzzle, and they find a key, to a possible safe in a bank.

His wife's brother attempts to steal the money for himself, but since Pete did love his wife, despite how insane she was, he was willing to go with Pete to ensure nothing would go wrong for his wife. They head to the bank, where they run into Audrey, who has handcuffed herself to the door of the bank vault. She was there to support her father's work, and was willing to do anything to make sure her plan was successful. The duo head inside, and use the key to open one of the safes, only to realize there was secretly a bomb inside of this safe. Pete and his brother-in-law stare in shock, as the final seconds tick by, killing both of them instantly, and then putting poor Audrey in a coma.

This death scene made me gasp out loud. I'm not sure why I wasn't expecting Pete to die. I guess it had to do with his good nature, so I think that was why I was in so much shock he had gotten killed. Personally, I wished his wife and brother were the ones to go after the money, but because Pete loved his wife, he wanted to go in her place, to make sure her brother wouldn't screw them over.

However, I think his wife did got her karma in the end, because the two people she took for granted were the ones who died, and now she would be all alone.

Pete never deserved his death; he was a pure soul that was sucked into the corrupt world of Twin Peaks.
