Horror Fans Would Love The Suicide Squad

Image
Credit to  The Suicide Squad | Rotten Tomatoes As random as this topic is for you horror readers, I think that horror fans would adore the sequel to The Suicide Squad. I mean, I think that a majority of DC fans pretend that the first Suicide Squad movie doesn't exist. I heard that movie studios interfered with that movie behind the scenes, so who knows how special the first film could have actually been? When it comes to the sequel however, it received a huge fanbase from multiple DC fans. It's so unfortunate how the film did terrible in theaters, because wow, we horror fans were treated to an awesome gorefest of chaos and death.  This film does not hold back on the kills one bit. It's one of the best films that DC has produced, and it was given the best rating possible for fans to enjoy: R - Rated.  I love how the film focused on the brutality of all deaths in the film. And let me tell you for those who haven't seen it, there are a shitload of kills throughout th...

Do We Need The Black Phone 2?

Image
'The Black Phone 2': Horror Sequel Coming From Blumhouse, Universal I'm curious what kind of sequel we will be getting with The Black Phone 2. Is the film going to be a prequel? Or is the masked killer going to be haunting the survivor who defeated him in the first film? I feel that both ideas do work, but I don't think we need a sequel to the film.  The first film was a perfect horror film that delivered creepy moments with a monster that remained a mystery throughout the story. Ethan Hawke's villain was downright terrifying, and not knowing enough about his character is what sold this monster on screen.  I'm really hoping we never get a backstory to The Grabber, cause the presence of this guy was already so messed up.  I am curious to see how the main character is going to be living his life in the sequel. I know that his sister will probably form a powerful bond with him, due to what they both shared through their experiences.  Is he considered a hero in hi...

What is the Deal with ‘Severance?’

Image
Review: ‘Severance’ season one exhibits new plot concept - The Baylor Lariat I did not expect this show to become so popular. All I have seen of this show, is a couple of images of people online with some characters working in an office. I have been constantly guessing to figure out what this show is about. My theory is that is it most likely Sci — Fi related, because of the atmosphere of the office setting. From the images I have seen, it looks like something is wrong with the environment. Is it horror related? I have no idea. And I want to watch this show so bad. I’m intrigued to know what this show is about. All because it looks simple, but something tells me that it’s not about people working in an office. Has anyone here seen the show? And if you have, please don’t give me any spoilers! I’m totally fine with mini hints!

Will We Ever Get a Star Wars Horror Movie?

Image
Credit to [Editorial] We’re Ready for a Horror-Heavy ‘Star Wars’ Video Game — Bloody Disgusting I’m curious if we will ever get a really dark Star Wars movie.  I’m talking about a horror kind of Star Wars film.  I mean, we have gotten plenty of dark moments in the franchise.  In the prequels, we had Anakin Skywalker kill a bunch of kids and then he got his legs chopped off by his own mentor.  In the original Star Wars trilogy, we had a monster called the Rancor eat people, we witnessed a bunch of deaths, and Darth Vader (aka Anakin Skywalker) did a lot of evil actions like blowing up a planet.  One of the Star Wars stories that surprised me was a horror novel I found based on zombies in space.  Isn’t that a damn cool idea??? Zombie stormtroopers in space, eating people inside of a prison.  That was the novel’s plotline, and no mercy was shown to any character throughout the story. It was gory, disturbing, and dark! Star Wars should highly c...

How Does John Kramer Afford to Create His Traps in the Saw Franchise?

Image
Credit to Saw X Trailer: Shawnee Smith’s Amanda Returns 14 Years Later For Jigsaw’s Most Personal Game Yet This has always been a mind-boggling question I have had for years when it comes to John Kramer’s intelligent mind. I know that this guy is a genius when it comes to creating these dangerous traps, but how the hell is he able to afford these things? Where does he find all of the parts to these designs? There is no way in hell that he finds everything in a junkyard, right? Or does he travel the world on his spare time, looking for parts for new traps? I know that it was mentioned that he is rich when it comes to his job, and that he even owns property. But…how does he get away with all that? This is obviously a nit-pick from me with the Saw franchise, but at least it’s easy to ignore now. The series has finally picked up with Saw X , so I completely ignored the fact that he designed ‘from who knows what’ with several traps that were given to people that used their ‘medical k...

The Bye Bye Man Wasted its Monster Potential

Image
Credit to The Bye-Bye Man | ChicagoFilm I got to be honest here, I actually haven’t seen The Bye Bye Man . Nor do I care to. The reason for not watching this movie is that I know I will waste my time with this one. After hearing about the monster concept and the lack of its powers presented in the film, I was disappointed.  The Bye Bye Man has two simple sayings: Don’t think it.  Don’t say it.  But the film never uses any of these concepts. Instead, if the victim falls under the spell of the monster’s illusion of terror, then you will die.  Why the hell would the film sway away from its concept? It makes no sense, and I think that the writers most likely gave up while writing the script. The Bye Bye Man feels like a cash grab after watching several YouTube reviews based on this movie.  It’s a huge shame, because the design of the monster is honestly really cool. It’s a simple design, with a creepy pale faced monster that wears a trench coat, that has a p...

Perfect Blue is a Scary Psychological Study of the Fear of Being a Celebrity

Image
Credit to The Real History of ‘Perfect Blue’ and ‘Requiem for a Dream’ Perfect Blue is probably the best standalone anime that left me feeling disturbed and wondering what the hell I just watched. I also think that this anime delivers a perfect view with how being a celebrity can take a toll on anybody, leading to a psychological downfall of confusion and terror.  Mima is the main character of this tale, a young woman who decides to leave her pop star career behind to become an actor.  This decision leads to Mima finding herself in a journey of pure horror, as she fights her mind to figure out what is real or not, while dealing with a killer going after the people who are helping to fuel her acting career.  Your mind will be left reeling after watching every single scene throughout the film. It is confusing as hell in the best way possible. I don’t think I have seen a film all over the place in a good light since Memento .  Perfect Blue will freak you out, as...

The Quiet Undead is One of Doctor Who's Saddest Episodes

Image
Credit to “Doctor Who” The Unquiet Dead (TV Episode 2005) — Simon Callow as Charles Dickens — IMDb I have recently started to watch the Doctor Who series that features the 9th through the 12th doctors. I received the collection as a Christmas gift, and I told myself I would finally binge this beloved Sci — Fi series.  I’m currently on the ninth doctor, and I have finished watching episode 3: The Quiet Undead . The episode is a brilliant short horror story, that features the undead coming to life and causing chaos in a small town during 1869. The undead turned out to be aliens from space who use gas inside of a morgue to travel and inhabit dead bodies to continue their chances of survival.  So, we get an episode of zombies that look pretty creepy, so that’s cool.  And I felt like crying in multiple scenes throughout the episode.  This story is a tragic tale of a hero sacrificing herself to save everyone.  The characters who appear in this episode are the ...

A Labyrinth Sequel is in Development???

Image
Credit to Labyrinth (film) | Labyrinth Wiki | Fandom I couldn’t believe my eyes when I read this headline on a random article. I started to do more research, believing that this was fake news, but it turns out to be true. And I was more shocked to see who is going to be the director of the Labyrinth sequel.  Robert Eggers, the director who created The Witch, The Northman, The Lighthouse , and the recent remake of Nosferatu that was released last year. I’m sure Eggers is going to do a fantastic job, but I do have a lot of doubts about this news.  My biggest question is: How can they replace David Bowie? David Bowie was absolutely amazing when it came to the role of the Goblin King, Jareth. He barely had any screen time, but his presence was so powerful, that it felt like he was in the entire movie.  Credit to Revisiting the magic: Henson’s ‘Labyrinth’ screens at Hiway | The Chestnut Hill Local And let’s not forget that his singing voice was fantastic for the charact...

Fresh is a Shocking Love Story That Horror Fans Will Love to Death

Image
Credit to Fresh Summary, Latest News, Trailer, Cast, Where to Watch and More The first time I saw Fresh , I never expected this movie to become one of my all time horror movie favorites. Fresh is well…a fresh take on the horror genre. The film follows the story of Noa, a young woman stuck in the dating world.  She struggles to meet anyone online, and when she eventually goes on a date, the guy turns out to be a major jerk. Noa then meets the one, when she runs into a stranger named Steve while shopping for groceries.  Noa and Steve hit it off right away, and they became a couple. Steve then invites Noa to go to a remote cabin with him, and even though Noa is starting to notice several red flags, she decides to leave with him.  We as the viewer are then hit in the face when Steve drugs Noa, knocking her out. We are then given the title to the movie, 30 minutes into the film. This was a ballsy move on the director’s part, and I immediately knew that I was watching s...

Why do Horror Movies Continue to Spoil the Main Plot Points???

Image
Credit to SINNERS (2025): New Trailer From Ryan Coogler, Starring Michael B. Jordan, Hailee Steinfeld, Jack O’Connell, Wunmi Mosaku… | The Movie My Life I have already written about this topic loads of times already, but who the hell cares? I don’t get why I expect trailers to not spoil the entire movie, but I still find myself so surprised.  And shocked.  Shocked that studios allow their movies to spoil the entire film.  Or should I say the main plot point? Please turn back now, because I’m about to delve into major spoiler territory right now for the new Sinners trailer releasing this year.  I’m pretty damn mad right now.  Why…just why give up the main plot point? I can’t imagine how shocked I would have been watching this movie.  Alright. Here goes. Here is the major twist that should have been kept a secret.  The movie is about a group of people getting hunted by vampires.  Why give up this major spoiler to audiences? Can you imag...

We Are Getting John Carpenter's 'The Thing' from the Game Studio that Made 'Until Dawn'

Image
Credit to Directive 8020: A Dark Pictures Game launches John Carpenter’s the Thing into space this October | PC Gamer I am both excited and nervous about this announcement. It has been so long since we horror fans have gotten something similar of John Carpenter’s The Thing brought to the big screen.  After the unfortunate downfall of The Thing prequel that was butchered by the studio (there is a whole story to this film’s failure, I will write about this topic later), I’m left to wonder if we will ever get another awesome adaptation of this Sci — Fi/horror story.  While I think the Supermassive will do this story justice, I have been hearing from fans that Until Dawn and House of Ashes were the only good stories so far that this game studio has created. The story is going to follow the same pattern of The Thing 1982 film. There is something among the crew that is picking them one by one on board of their ship in space, and the paranoia is building among the crew....

The Monkey is a Good Horror Movie?

Image
Credit to The Monkey | Rotten Tomatoes I was shocked to find out that Stephen King’s short horror story The Monkey has been received pretty well with critics. I’m still waiting on the fans on this one, before I decide to go watch the film. I am still pretty shocked to see that the concept of the movie actually worked! It ain’t easy to create a horror movie with a cursed monkey toy, and from the looks of the trailer, the crew stuck to the practical effects. This is one of the main reasons why I want to go check out this movie. I’m also surprised that Oz Perkins that created Longlegs made this film too.  I know that Longlegs was pretty mixed when it came to the fans, but I thoroughly enjoyed the dark atmosphere of the film. Oz Perkins is the kind of director that does not hold back on the horror, and I can’t wait to see how gruesome The Monkey is going to be.  I can’t even believe Stephen King wrote this story. I’m a hardcore Stephen King fan, but I had no idea this st...

I Didn't Have the Guts to Finish House of the Dead: Overkill

Image
Credit to The House of the Dead: OVERKILL | Wii | Games | Nintendo ZA I am sad to admit that House of the Dead: Overkill was one of the few zombie games I could never finish. When I was a kid, I was so disgusted with how raw the game was.  I was not expecting to see human bodies getting thrown into human-sized blenders, a zombie throwing human body parts at the players…or in other words, I was not expecting such extreme violence.  And since I was a mere child, I was not allowed to continue playing this game. After my family witnessed the entire first chapter, they straight up told me I was not going to play this game ever again.  I think for the first time, I didn’t mind this punishment, because this game actually did bother me. This game was way too disturbing for me.  I think the main reason was that it was unlike any zombie game I had ever played before. It wasn’t your typical House of the Dead game I was used to. It was considered to be a spin off game t...

Grief is the Thing With Feathers is Benedict Cumberbatch's First Horror Movie

Image
Credit to ‘The Thing With Feathers’ Review: Benedict Cumberbatch in Grief Drama I’m thrilled to finally announce that Benedict Cumberbatch is appearing in his first horror movie role. I always felt that Cumberbatch is an incredible actor, and I think it’s awesome to see him juggling all kinds of roles in his career.  I’m so mad he hasn’t won an Oscar yet; this dude is so damn talented.  Grief is the Thing with Feathers follows the story of a father who is grieving after the death of his wife. He is now a single father raising two children, but I think his grief leads to his downfall of experiencing terrifying hallucinations as he tries to process the death of his wife.  This story already sounds like it’s going to be a fantastic psychological horror film. Even though I keep hearing mixed reactions about this movie, I’m looking forward to watching Cumberbatch in his first horror movie.  How are you guys feeling about this development?  I am planning to wr...

28 Years Later is My Most Anticipated Horror Movie of 2025

Image
Credit to Yahoo is part of the Yahoo family of brands I lost my mind when I first heard that we horror fans were finally going to get a third entry into the 28 Days Later franchise. I’m so happy that we can finally call this horror series a trilogy, and it took years for this dream to happen! From what I saw in the trailer, we are getting brand new characters like we did in the sequel, and it appears that the world still hasn’t gone back to normal. You would expect after 28 years, that people would come together and start over.  Unfortunately, that does not appear to be the case.  We are now following the story of a father and son, who must leave their island of refuge and enter back into the world of the dead and evil people who are both still a huge threat. The new enemy threat in the third installment looks like a cult, and damn, I am excited! Credit to 28 Years Later first trailer seems to reveal dark fate for Cillian Murphy’s hero — JOE.co.uk There is a lot of pot...

We're Finally Getting a New Silent Hill Film After 13 Years

Image
Credit to ‘Return to Silent Hill’ Presents First Look at Cannes Film Festival It’s been a long time since we horror fans have gotten a new Silent Hill film in the popular and psychological horror franchise.  The first film Silent Hill was released back in 2006, and was received well by fans who had played the games. The film delivered on the atmosphere of the games, it mostly focused on practical effects when it came to the monster designs, and it was genuinely scary in some parts of the film.  The second film Silent Hill: Revelations , was released in 2012, and was definitely a mixed bag when it came to the acting and the CGI. In my opinion, some parts of the movie worked for me, but the acting definitely needed more work.  I also didn’t like the fact that one of the main character’s enemies was a love interest for her. In the game, she hated his guts.  The new film we are getting is called Return to Silent Hill , and it could possibly be releasing sometime ...

The Resident Evil 5 Remake Needs to Bring Back the Multiplayer Story Mode

Image
Credit to YouTube Resident Evil 5 is now the next remake that will be released eventually in the franchise. So far, each remake has been awesome in their own way.  Resident Evil 2 brought back the fear of the dead invading the world.  Resident Evil 3 brought the fear of being chased by a zombie that is utterly relentless and determined.  Resident Evil 4 was the best one by far, bringing an amazing action-packed adventure for horror fans.  There is one thing that the next installment needs to bring into the franchise again. Resident Evil 5 needs to bring back the multiplayer mode for the main storyline.  I believe that the fifth entry of the franchise was the first one to introduce the multiplayer mode for the fans. In my opinion, I thought that Resident Evil 5 was the best one. It was so damn fun, and I loved how I had to work together with my sister to defeat the hordes of zombies and boss fights.  This game is all about teamwork, so if the deve...

Are We Horror Fans Finally Getting an R.L. Stine Fear Street Movie?

Image
Credit to Netflix Announces ‘Fear Street 1988: Prom Queen’ for 2025 Release [Poster] — Bloody Disgusting While R.L. Stine is known for creating the iconic Goosebumps series for children, he also created a horror series for young adults, known as the Fear Street novels.  I felt that this series was extremely underrated, and I always wondered if there would ever be a movie on any of these horror novels one day.  We did get a trilogy of Fear Street on Netflix, but I’ll be referring to his standalone horror novels for this article. We are getting a film based on one of his books, Prom Queen, that will be releasing sometime this year.  This story is a pretty simple slasher tale. Several candidates have been selected for prom queen, and the students are getting killed one by one, in order for the killer to obtain the title of prom queen.  This idea already sounds absolutely insane, because how the hell would someone be that desperate to be picked as prom queen i...

Will Jurassic World Rebirth Bring Life Back to the Dinosaur Franchise?

Image
Credit to I Love Jurassic World Rebirth’s Confirmed Lineup Of Dinosaurs, But There’s One Mysterious Dino I Need To Know More About | Cinemablend I finally got to watch the Jurassic World Rebirth trailer during Superbowl, and I got several pros and cons with this new film for the Jurassic Park franchise. I got to be honest here, I’m not sure how to feel about the new movies anymore.  I think the old three films to the Jurassic Park franchise will always be the best ones by far. I don’t care if fans weren’t a huge fan of Jurassic Park 3 , it’s ten times better than the last two films we got in the reboot lol. The ideas were awesome, but poorly executed in the last two films. I was so lost with the introduction of the little girl who was part robot and dinosaur. Like what the hell happened??? Anyway, after I watched the Jurassic World Rebirth trailer, here are several reasons why I think the movie might work or might not work.  First Pro: We are getting a mutant dinosa...
